In 2008, Shanghai Western Photography Salon was established in Beixinjing Street. Over the years, they have remained alive and well. A few days ago, the salon launched a portrait photography activity, where dozens of members gathered to share their experiences and look back on the past.
On the day of the event, everyone arrived on time with professional equipment and showed strong curiosity about the studio photography they tried for the first time. "Different from outdoor wind collection, studio shooting has higher requirements for the white balance, light sensitivity and other parameters of the equipment, which must be flexibly adjusted." Liu Qiang, a member of the salon, carefully introduced the studio shooting method and gave one-on-one guidance.
In a relaxed atmosphere, the members began to practice and began to conceive their works around the model's pose and shooting angle. After the studio shooting, everyone sat together to exchange their experiences of the photography.
The reporter learned that the Shanghai Western Photography Salon was founded by the Comprehensive Party Committee of Beixinjing Community, and there are more than 20 people, with an average age of 70 years old, and some members are senior members of the Photography Association. In the early days of its establishment, the members went to Xiapu, Fujian Province to create their works, and photographed the unique kelp plantations, quaint fishing villages, colorful beaches, and spectacular bamboo row towns on the sea. The first creative journey left a deep impression on everyone, and the work was selected and published in the "Changning Times", which brought a great sense of accomplishment to everyone, and the newspaper full of memories has also been preserved to the present.
Over the past 16 years, the salon has actively participated in the activities of the community in Beixinjing, leaving a large number of precious pictures. With the addition of photography enthusiasts in the surrounding streets and towns, the photography scene of the members has gradually expanded from Beixinjing to the entire western part of Changning. Historical changes, urban landscapes, humanities and arts, and other theme works are not only exhibited in the community, but also won good results in district and municipal photography competitions, showing the style of Changning in multiple dimensions.
West Street Production Team
Tianshan West Road
Beixinjing was once known as one of the five ancient towns of Shanghai County together with Longhua and Qibao. Five old streets, including East Street, West Street, North Street, Pusong South Road, Pusong North Road, and two small roads on the west side of Xinjing Port, are the market town roads that form the North Xinjing Town. In the creation of the members, the recording of historical changes is a major theme that has not changed over the years.
"I have been working in Beixinjing before I retire, and I have a deep affection for it, so before I founded the salon, I consciously combined 'change' to accumulate works." Zhang Jiaxiang, a member of the salon, took Tianshan West Road as an example to introduce the West Street Production Brigade, which was originally the West Street Production Brigade, and after demolition, a piece of farmland became an endless main road. ”
North Main Street
"There are a lot of interesting things to shoot the demolition, and Zhang Jiaxiang happened to have a job at the time of the demolition of North Street, so he entrusted me to go there. My family is not in Changning, and I used to go back and forth on my bicycle during that time. "Liu Qiang and Zhang Jiaxiang have been old friends for decades, both of them are particularly interested in photography, he smiled and shared, now looking back at the series of photos taken back then, I deeply feel the value of old photos." This is a souvenir of a resident in front of their house, and I would love to find the family and give them a photo. ”
In recent years, the salon has received strong support from Beixinjing Street and the service guarantee of functional departments, and has been able to exchange works, land exhibitions, and publish a number of photo books in community cultural centers and other venues, which further amplify the appeal and cohesion of the salon. Wu Yuqing, a member of the salon, said frankly that it was not easy to persist for 16 years, and the salon will continue to use images to witness the changes of the times in Beixinjing and Changning with the original intention of "gathering friends with love and meeting friends with films".
