Ubisoft's XDefiant executive producer Mark Rubin recently took to social media to clarify false rumors that the game would be closed a year after its launch. He made it clear that despite the drop in player numbers, Ubisoft has no plans to end the game after Season 4.
The response was in response to rumors posted by Twitter user "Shaun Weber", who said he knew some industry knowers, and said he had learned from multiple sources that Unruly League could shut down after Season 4 if Ubisoft couldn't attract more players.
Mark Rubin mentioned that the development team is actively working on plans to revive the game. They were also discussing content planning for the second year last week, and are currently focusing on improving the technical experience and adding new content for the upcoming season. Part of the reason for the decline in player count is that the game has not yet been marketed on a large scale, and the team wanted to adjust the game to a better state before the promotion to attract new players and returning players.
This is the second time in nearly a month that Ubisoft's San Francisco development team has dismissed rumors that Unruly Alliance is about to shut down. In September, in response to reports of declining player interest and a plummeting stock price, the studio stressed that the game "will never shut down." They acknowledged the areas for improvement in the game, such as the netcode and progression content, and said that Ubisoft has a strong support for the game and has allocated more resources to the team to support these improvements.
