On October 19, Beijing time, the past night, the contract renewal progress of some NBA players was updated. Durant is expected to renew his contract until next offseason, and has no intention of signing a one-year, $59.5 million contract with the Suns this summer. Kuminga and the Warriors are at odds with the Nuggets looking to cut a price to re-sign Gordon and the Rockets offer Greenshenking an offer to a contract, but below the salary cap.
Durant
Shams said Durant downplayed the possibility of an early contract extension with the Suns this year, but "expressed publicly and privately how much he loves Phoenix." Both the former MVP and the team are focused on accomplishing something next offseason, when Durant can add another two years to his current contract, totaling $123.8 million over two years.
He is eligible to sign a one-year, $59.5 million contract by Oct. 22, but he said in an interview that he didn't even think about it.
Kuminga and Moody's
Shams said the Warriors and Kuminga are at odds over contract extension talks. If Kuminga doesn't renew his contract by Oct. 22, he is expected to become a restricted free agent in 2025. The Warriors forward is willing to try to prove himself in the 2024-25 season and try to get a max contract, or close to it, next summer. Shams said Moody appears to be "more likely" than Kuminga to complete a contract extension with the Warriors by Oct. 22.
Shin Kyung and Green
Shams said the Rockets had "productive" conversations with Shin Kyung, Jalen Green's camp and made an offer for a contract extension that would provide them with long-term financial security. However, Shams also pointed out that these offers are lower than the maximum offer, so Shin Kyung and Green must decide if they are willing to accept these contract offers or if they are willing to wait until they become restricted free agents to fight for a higher salary.
Aaron Gordon
Shams also reported that the Nuggets and forward Aaron Gordon are actively negotiating a contract extension. Gordon is eligible to sign a contract with a maximum salary of around 150 million for four years. ESPN's Weinhorst said the Nuggets want him to accept a slightly lower offer than that. "They haven't made that (highest) offer yet, otherwise he would have signed it. As far as I know, they are negotiating, and they want to sign him for less than the maximum salary. ”
