My name is Liu Shiyi, my name is Shudu, my ancestral home is Dezhou, Shandong, I was born on July 14, 1899 in Zhengding Mansion, Hebei Province, I studied in Baoding, and then went to Shanghai to study at Shenzhou Girls' School. In 1925, I was admitted to the Chinese Department of Beijing Women's Normal University. After graduating in 1930, he taught in middle schools in Beiping and Nanjing.
I love education, but I love carving even more. For a long time, I have always concentrated on studying and studying and studying gold and stone seal carving. In 1958, I retired, but I still have no carving knife left, put down, in order to inherit the art of seal carving by Mr. Qi Baishi, I am determined to dedicate the rest of my life.
Find a mentor and a friend
In July 1923, I graduated from Shanghai Shenzhou Girls' School. By this time, my father had gone to work in the Beiyuan army in Beijing. So, I also came to my new home in Beijing from Shanghai and studied in my second year of university. In the winter of 1925, she was admitted to the preparatory class of liberal arts at Beijing Women's Normal University (in Xidan Shijuma Street). At this time, Mr. Lu Xun was teaching at the Women's Normal University, and although he didn't teach us, we could go and listen to his classes.

I have been studying gold and stone seal carving in Shanghai, and my knife skills and seal carving skills have also improved to a certain extent. I pay attention to reading other people's prints, and I especially like Wu Changshuo's prints. People classify the knife method into 16 kinds, what buried knife, hidden knife, guillotine, double knife, cutting knife, random knife, etc., I have not taken. I like to start straight, so in order to further improve my seal carving skills, I look for teachers and friends everywhere. In 1925, my fourth sister Liu Shiyun was studying in the girls' class of the Boys' High School Attached to Normal University. There is a teacher in the school named Dong Lu'an, who is familiar with seal carving. After the introduction of the fourth sister, I went to visit Mr. Dong, and he looked at the seal I carved and said, "Your carving method is very similar to Qi Baishi, don't you learn from me, you go to Mr. Qi." Later, I was introduced by someone to consult the famous carver at that time, Shou Mason, Chen Shizeng, Jin Xihou, Zhang Hairuo, Zhang Nanxi and others. I came to visit Mr. Shou Shigong and could not see him. Mr. Kim excused himself on the grounds of old age. Mr. Zhang Hairuo and Mr. Zhang Nanxi not only met with me, but also gave me advice. Mr. Zhang Hairuo passed on his stunt "Yingtuo" to me. In general, the original material to be extended is evenly coated with ink, covered with paper, and then gently brushed on the paper with a soft cloth. Mr. Zhang Hairuo's "Yingtuo" is unique, he put the original object to be extended next to it, and watched the original object take a pen dipped in ink to draw and wipe on the paper, and the work is similar to the original between similar and dissimilar. Mr. Zhang Hairuo's "Yingtuo" has a high artistic value and is very popular with people (he costs 10 yuan for a ruler of Hanwa "Yingtuo", while Mr. Qi Baishi's one ruler paints a pen for only 4 yuan). Mr. Zhang Nanxi's calligraphy and seal carving are very good, especially the official writing is very good. He said to me, "If you can't write, you can't engrave, you have to practice calligraphy first." He also told me about seal carving, and he said: "Some seal carvers, although the carved strokes are not connected, but the qi is through." I have been learning calligraphy and seal carving from Mr. Zhang for more than two years, and he never easily changes my chapters. He said: "The knife technique cannot be changed casually. Your knife skills are different from mine, don't learn mine, my knife skills are messy. A woman who learns from me is out of order. Your sword skills are close to Qi faction, go find Qi Baishi. "After the guidance of Mr. Dong and Mr. Zhang, I found Qi Baishi's heart even more keen.

Apprenticeship with Qi Baishi
At that time, Mr. Qi Baishi was already a well-known master of Chinese painting and seal carving, and there were many people who wanted to teach him. Therefore, it is not okay to rush to the door to ask for advice without anyone to introduce them. I thought hard day and night, begging people everywhere to find someone to meet, but I couldn't find a suitable person. When I was helpless, my classmate Liu Zhuankun told me that she had a fellow villager surnamed Zhao and knew Mr. He Kongcai, a disciple of Qi Baishi. He Kongcai's grandfather, He Songpo, was the fourth-generation head of Baoding Lotus Academy in the late Qing Dynasty. This Mr. He Kongcai is very knowledgeable, he is under the door of Mr. Qi Zishi, although he is not very old, but he is young and old, dressed up and looks like a little old man. Through Mr. Zhao's introduction, I met Mr. He Kongcai. From then on, I often took the seal I carved to him for advice. He carefully corrected each of my works. Once, he said, "I can't learn the teacher's knife technique, that kind of momentum is difficult to learn." Your knife skills are like a teacher, and you can learn from them. I then said, "I would love to meet Teacher Qi, can you take me to visit Teacher Qi?" At this time, Mr. He Kongcai said: "The teacher is old and can no longer accept new students, so let's talk about it when I have the opportunity in the future!" I studied with Mr. He Kongcai for about a year and learned a lot. I couldn't get my wish to meet Mr. Qi Baishi through Mr. He Kongcai, but I didn't lose heart. One day, my fourth sister Shi Yun said to me happily: "I have a classmate who knows a student from the Beiping Art School named Li Ying (i.e., Li Kuchan), who is Qi Baishi's proud protégé. We went to ask Li Ying to introduce him. I'm naturally pleased. My fourth sister and I were introduced by that classmate and met Li Kuchan. After we explained our intentions, he was very enthusiastic and offered to help. Within a few days, Li Kuchan went to see Teacher Qi and told me what I meant to apprentice. Teacher Qi said, "It's old, it's closed." Li Kuchan can't say anything. I listened and was very sad. Li Kuchan comforted me and said, "Don't be busy, talk slowly."

A few days later, Yu Feiyan, who was nearly 40 years old and had made certain achievements in art, wanted to worship Qi Baishi as his teacher. Qi Baishi made an exception to accept him. This matter let Li Kuchan know. He ran to see Teacher Qi and begged Teacher Qi to accept me. At this time, the teacher had no choice but to say, "You can bring her work to me first." I handed Yin Tuo to Li Kuchan to take it, and after the teacher saw it, he said to Li Kuchan: "You call her to come!" Afterwards, Li Kuchan accompanied me to meet Teacher Qi. The teacher was living at No. 15 Straddle Alley. I told the teacher about the process of learning to carve, and said: "People say that I carve like you, I admire you very much, and I want to worship under your door one day!" The teacher said, "Seal carving, boys don't want to learn, but girls like this!"
One day in the late spring of 1927, I officially worshipped Shiraishi as my teacher. At the teacher's house, the ceremony was very simple, and in addition to Li Kuchan, there were two other people (whose names I can't remember now). I respectfully bowed to the teacher, and then presented the protégé note to the teacher. After the teacher took it, he said a few words of encouragement to me, and Li Kuchan said a few words of congratulations, and the apprenticeship was over. Then I went to see my wife.
Teachers pass on their skills
In the first year after my formal apprenticeship, I always took my work to the teacher for approval. The teacher corrected each of my works and every word seriously, wrote concise and concise comments, such as: "weak", "thin", "flat", etc., and explained to me which knife is good, which knife is not good, and how to master the straightness and thickness of which stroke, and the guidance is very specific. However, every time I went to the teacher's house, I saw the teacher drawing, and I never saw the teacher's actual seal carving knife technique. Because the teacher's seal carving is mostly in the morning and evening, he paints in the morning and afternoon. I have long heard that the Qi family's knife technique is a single knife and a sharp edge, but I have never been able to see it with my own eyes. Once, I plucked up the courage to say to the teacher, "Teacher, please engrave a square seal for me, and let me see how you engrave it." The teacher readily agreed.

One afternoon in the early spring of 1928, I brought the two Shoushan stones that I had prepared long ago to the teacher. The teacher picked up the stone, did not make proofs, did not need to print the bed, held the stone in his left hand, held the carving knife in his right hand, and said while carving: "There are dozens of knife techniques, and there are 16 kinds in total." But my knife technique is to cut with one knife and one side of the knife. I watched the teacher pay attention to the knife, only to see that the teacher's demeanor was calm and skillful, and in about ten minutes, the four white characters of "Baishi Disciple" were carved out. This party has a commemorative medal, and I still treasure the other party's teacher who later engraved the four white characters of "Shudu Changnian". I studied with the teacher for a few years, and the seal carving knife method has made some progress. Once, the teacher said: "I have many apprentices, but only three of them have outstanding achievements in seal carving. One is Luo Xiangzhi; the second is Yu Zhongying; You are the third. Although you are the third, you are rare among women. Luo Xiangzhi, a native of Sichuan, is good at calligraphy, Chinese painting, and seal carving. Around 1930, he was already quite famous in Sichuan. In order to study the art of seal carving in depth, he came to Beiping all the way to learn seal carving from the teacher. He came to Beiping, and in order to be quiet, he did not live in a hotel and lived in a temple. During the day, except for going to the teacher's house and visiting the Changdian bookstore, I don't go out if I have nothing to do, and I either paint or carve in the temple. In the seven or eight months that he was in contact with the teacher, he saw the teacher's superb knife skills and admired the teacher very much, and finally officially bowed to the teacher's door. The apprenticeship meeting was very grand, but unfortunately I didn't attend. According to the rules, he is my junior brother, but he is more than ten years older than me. Because of his deep skills, the teacher valued him very much. He stayed in Beiping for about two years, and when he left, the teacher specially engraved "My road to the west as a gift." And said to me: "He will go back to Sichuan, and I will go west." When are you going back to Texas? When you go back to Texas, I will send you with "my way east". Then I'm going to do it!"

In 1933, my teacher gave me a run-up example (also known as runge, runpen, pen, pen, which refers to the remuneration standard set for making poems, calligraphy and paintings, usually written on the signboard hung up). The teacher said, "I engrave a word for 4 yuan, plus a side paragraph for 4 yuan." I'll give you $2 per word. "In this way, I hung up the run-up in the Chunqing Pavilion of the Liuli Factory. But in old China, men were inferior to women, and women were discriminated against. My mother was a good wife and mother in the old society, and she was influenced by the old ideas and opposed my examples. Therefore, I only hung the run-up example for a short time in the Chunqing Pavilion and withdrew it, and since then, I have carved my favorite seal as a pastime after work, and I have never hung the run-up example again.
I am very grateful to my teacher for his education and love for me, he not only gave me a precedent, but also wanted me to make a print collection, and wrote a preface for my future print book. The teacher's preface is written like this: The spirit of skill has always belonged to scholars, and women have not heard of it. That is, Ma Xianglan's painting orchid and Mrs. Guan's painting bamboo, at first sight, I knew that it was a woman's doing, and I wanted to see the pavilion and wanted to drive the husband. The engraving of the door Liu Shudu, the ancients for the first time, the Han law, often to the seal to extend the surplus, the seal knife work has no children's spirit, take the long of the ancients, the short of the teacher's law, especially for Yan Ge out. After Yu Wei ordered this rubbing, he returned to it because of the number of words. Xin Wei in December, Qi Huang Baishi lived in the old Jingyue, and tomorrow was the middle of the Yuan Day, and he was also seventy and two years old
The teacher gave me a valuable gift
The teacher has a deep influence on my education, and has achieved "preaching, teaching, and solving doubts". There are many things that the teacher gave me, and I can't say all about them, but the main thing is the teacher's spirit of hard work and innovation in art. These spirits of the teacher are concentrated in his imprints. Every time the teacher produced a print, he gave me a set. Every one of his prints has had a great impact. Today, they can be said to be national treasures. But it's a pity that I got more than a dozen teachers' prints, and now only four remain.

The teacher was born in the third year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1864), and when he was young, he did carpentry and loved to portray. At the age of 20, he began to learn seal carving, imitating the knife skills of Ding Jing and Huang Yi of the eight families of Xiling in Zhejiang. Since Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, Ding Jing, Jiang Ren, Huang Yi, Xi Gang, Chen Yuzhong, Chen Hongshou, Zhao Zhichen, Qian Song and other 8 people, pay attention to knife skills, make good use of cutting knives, have high achievements in the art of seal carving, and have great influence. When the teacher imitated Ding, Huang and others, he carved a lot of seals and left a seal. But in 1917, during the Hunan Chevalve War, both the seal and the seal were lost. Later, he accumulated some more seals, and in 1928 he published his first seal. There are four copies of this printing letter, a total of 200 prints, and there are two prefaces in front of it, in addition to the teacher's self-preface, there is also a preface made by Mr. Wang Minyun. Mr. Wang Minyun was a famous scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, and he wrote many books in his life, and his poems were the first in the country at that time. He accepted a lot of students, and the teacher was doing carpentry at his house at that time, and Mr. Wang Geyun saw that the teacher loved to learn, was good at depiction, and loved it very much, and accepted him as a disciple.

In 1904, Mr. Wang Minyun wrote a preface to the teacher's seal. In 1917, during the war in Hunan, the teacher's seal was lost, and he treasured the preface written by Mr. Wang Minyun on his body and brought it out. This time, the teacher deliberately put Wang Xu in front. Wang Xu wrote: The person who seals the harmonic herald, only Zhaotan Laoyu, purely imitates the Qin and Han dynasties, and the ink is not printed with Zhu, which is shocking. When Yu Tong saw that there was a copy from his brother Jieqing, he asked the name and did not know it, which meant that he was a hermit at the end of the Ming Dynasty, and he still wants to admire it. The secretary of the secretary's office is unambitious, conceited and elegant, and there is also harmony in the seal, not lightly. and Yu You Gao Bozu, Li Xian, and Uncle Zhao Zhi, all of whom are famous for their engravings, and Zhao Aowu, many seekers set up absolute ones. The rest of the capital is a gift of more than one chapter tomorrow, and the Beijing master will come to the audience one after another. When it comes to amusement, the lonely are wonderful, and the situation is natural.
White stone grass clothes, starting from the maker, painting Qinde, all into the famous domain, especially fine knife pen, non-acquaintance does not respond. When friends sit and talk secretly, there are guests who come and avoid patrolling. There is the ambition of the high world, and if you can't speak. There are many deformed people in my county, Mr. Nu Li Ke, the mother of Yu's wife, painted into the best products, the carving process is particularly fine, and he is also good at carving, but not made by others. In his later years, he sat in a room, did not change his size all day long, and was silent when he saw people. What is Shiraishi flowing with? How unique it is to Yu Ye. Yu both borrowed the mountain for the title, because he wanted to visit the people of Shenshan together, see his imprints, and refeel the strange and ancient people who had traveled in his life, and sighed that it was not accidental that he became famous in an art, and he was reinstated as the preface to its meaning.

Jiachen July Wang Minyun inscribed in the Nanchang Pavilion after Mr. Wang Minyun's preface, there is a teacher's self-preface. In the teacher's preface, he introduced the process and development of his learning and carving, and expressed his reverence for Mr. Wang Minyun. He wrote in the preface: Yu Zhi's engraving began at the age of 20, and he originally engraved his name seal before, and his friend Li Zhuochang borrowed the original rubbing of Ding Huang Yin to get his way. A few years later, he got the "Two Golden Butterfly Hall Seal Harmony", and he knew that honesty was positive, dense and natural, and it was a change. Then I like "Tianfa Oracle Monument", knife method - change. Then I rejoiced in "Sangong Mountain Monument", law - change. In the end, Qin Quan was straight and straight,-- let nature go, and it changed greatly. Recall from the first exhibition before the imitation of Ding Huang engraved seal, once extended, Xiang Qi Shi gave the narrative, to Ding has been in turmoil, the rest of the desire to take refuge and leave home, because of the abandonment of the seal grass, only take the broken wall of the narrative collection, to avoid the ashes. However, although the narrative remains, the seal is completely gone, and the rest can't bear to live up to the teacher's text, but to take the seal that Ding has engraved later. It is to wait for the seals, but Yu steals Yen Ching Restaurant and supports himself, no matter who asks for the engraved seals to be saved, a total of four copies are obtained, and they become the seal grass, and they are still crowned with Xiangqi in the front. Wuchen Winter October Qi Huang Baishishan Weng Zixu Shi Ju Yen Ching Restaurant this seal is the teacher from the beginning of the Ding Huang Zhejiang school, to learn the ancient Han carving to the mature stage of the accumulation of the seal, is very representative. Therefore, the artistic value is higher than that of the beginner Ding Huang stage. In 1928, after the teacher bound this book, he gave me a set. It has been treasured by my side for decades, and it may be the only one in China at present

In 1933, the teacher prepared two new prints. Because the copyright of the teacher's first print in 1928 was bought by a person at a high price, some friends persuaded the teacher to publish another print score. The teacher selected 500 square seals engraved in Gengwu (1930) and Xin Wei (1931) from the old chapters of the past, with 6 pages per side, a total of 6 sets, each set of two letters, 5 copies of the upper letter and 5 copies of the lower letter. Selected Wang Shen (1932) and Guiyou (1933) engraved 200 square seals, each side of 10 pages, a total of 10 sets, each set of 4 copies. In order to improve the quality of the printing spectrum, Mr. Wu Disheng, a well-known ink maker, was invited to refine the ink ink. The teacher took out the good oil and cinnabar stored at home, and found mugwort from the south. Due to the good raw materials and Mr. Wu's ancient clay method, the rubbing of these two prints is still bright vermilion.

The workload of producing two prints at the same time is quite large, and there are several people who help the teacher rub the prints, such as Zhou Junsu, Bai Yun and me. Zhou Junsu is a female disciple who learned painting from her teacher, she is also from Hunan, and her father is a good friend of the teacher. Bai Yun is the daughter-in-law of the teacher's eldest daughter. Because these two prints were produced at the same time, the teacher used a preface. Its preface:
After the collection of prints was published in the year of Wu Zhan, the engraved seal was purchased by outsiders, and the rubbings were 200, and the 200 seals were not printed and collected. Gengwu and Xinwei two years of engraving, each print only six pages, get six huge volumes, each volume is set to ten copies, about 500 square meters of printing. Ren Shen, Gui You two years of chaos to the extreme, I do not move, closed door reading, there are peeling pecking knock on the door to ask for painting and seal carving, do not know its voice. Therefore, there are very few seal carvings, only four copies of the printed collection, about 200 square prints, a total of ten volumes. All of the above are seventy decayed Weng with cinnabar mud hand-extended. Four years of energy, life geometry, although starving Chang'an, it is not easy to fight rice, it is my descendants to treasure it, waiting to dump the knower.

In the autumn and August of the year, Qi Huang Baishishan Weng lived in Jiujing at the time of the preface, and even his family and Zhou Junsu and I each had one set each. The fourth part of the book I now have in my collection given by the teacher is the teacher's 300 square meter print. For Luo Xiangzhi and Yu Zhongying to learn art, the teacher let them observe with their own eyes, and carved 300 square stones in less than a year, and rubbed the collection of scores. The teacher wrote in the preface to his seal spectrum: After Yu was thirty years old, he was named after three hundred stone seals, and the number of seal stones was covered. The name of the engraved person is printed in several squares, which is suitable for poetry and painting. At the age of 60, there are more and more printing stones, among which there are two or three out of ten, and Ding Cheng has become Qin ash for many years. After Ding Cheng avoided chaos and lived in Beijing, he got the seal stone, and he could fill the number of three hundred, and regretted that Ding Cheng lost the best. At the age of seventy-one, the doorman Luo Xiang stopped wanting to engrave the absolute method of the seal, and was willing to see the knife in person. Yu Sui took the seal stone from the Tibetan and engraved and said, auspicious and frightened, said "such as hearing the thunderbolt, waving the knife has the sound of the wind". Then the north side of the disciple ceremony. The next year, Yu Zhongying will follow, and he will also have a wish for auspiciousness. After a while, all the stones have been carved in less than a year, and the number of three hundred is too much. The merit of its carving is the rest of the two lives, so the order is and. Now temporarily expand a few volumes to the family collection, so that the children and grandchildren know that in the past, people had a wood and a stone in Pingquanzhuang, and the children and grandchildren were not allowed to be with others; You must also know that the ancestors have 300 stone seals and 300 stone seals, and I hope that the descendants will not be able to seal with people.

At the beginning of the winter of Jiacheng, Weng Qihuang of Baishi Mountain came to 1937, when the Qiqi Lugou Bridge Incident broke out, and Pingjin fell one after another. The Peking Research Institute also stopped working, so I officially went to work at the Tongxian Women's Teacher High School. Later, he returned to the city of Beiping and went to teach at the No. 2 Women's Middle School. In 1938, my mother died of an unfortunate illness, and I was very sad, and some of my classmates and friends advised me to change places to relieve my grief. I left Peking for Nanjing in 1941. Before leaving Beiping, I went to the teacher's house to say goodbye, and the teacher encouraged me with deep affection and asked me to continue to work hard and improve my skills. I would like to express my gratitude to my teachers for their sincere teachings over the past ten years. Teachers and students said goodbye in this way

When I first arrived in Nanjing, I taught at the Model Girls' High School, and later went to the Overseas Chinese Children's School. In 1943, I accepted the invitation of Nanjing No. 2 Girls' High School to teach at No. 2 Women's High School. In the winter of 1946, the teacher came to Nanjing. He went from Peking to Shanghai to hold an art exhibition, passing through Nanjing. When I heard about it, I went to the hotel to see him. When I arrived at the hotel, he was carving the white seal of "Eighty-six years old". It has been six years since I left Peking in 1941 to Nanjing, and I am very happy to see my teacher this time. During the casual conversation, I asked, "Can the teacher bring the seal stone with me this time?" "Brought some," he said. I said, "I'll expand some." He said, "Yes." When I heard that it was possible, I was so happy that I immediately walked out of the hotel, found a rickshaw and hurried back to school, picked a small notebook with a fine brocade finish, and rode back to the hotel. I took the teacher's seal stone, together with the seal of "Eighty-six Years Old", a total of 42 rubbings. The teacher wrote in front of this small collection of seals:
Shudu, the people of the White Stone Gate. Beiping has been here for more than six years. Today in Nanjing, it is worth publishing this seal and seeking to expand it to the chronicle. Bingcheng 10-month-day white stone Weng

After the liberation of Nanjing in 1949, I was transferred from Nanjing No. 2 Women's Middle School to Nanjing No. 2 Men's Middle School, and later transferred to the Industrial School and No. 10 Middle School. After I left Peking in 1941, I often wrote to my teachers to greet me. In the summer of 1956, I went back to Beijing and visited my teacher five times. I remember the third time I went, the teacher asked me, "You haven't put down the carving knife in the past few years, have you?" I said, "Not often." The teacher said, "Next time, bring two stones, bring a knife, and carve them in front of me." On the fourth trip, I brought a stone and a knife and made an appointment with Li Kuzen. When I arrived at the teacher's house, I found that the teacher was not in good spirits, and he sat there and did not want to open his eyes. I asked the teacher how it was. The teacher said, "I can't sleep well." Kuzen said that the outer courtyard was being cleaned up, and the environment was too messy. I didn't mention the stone carving again. Before leaving, the teacher's family said to me, "Let's leave a few days later, so that we can catch up with the ceremony (referring to the ceremony of the Committee for the Defense of World Peace to award the peace prize to Teacher Qi)." I said, "School is about to start, I'm afraid I won't be able to participate." The fifth time I went to see the teacher, I went to say goodbye to the teacher, and when I saw the teacher sleeping there, I didn't alarm him. Unexpectedly, this was the last time I saw my teacher. In 1957, I was shocked to hear that my teacher had unfortunately passed away. Later, I also fell ill and retired to Beijing in 1958. After returning to Beijing, he recuperated behind closed doors.

Mr. Qi Baishi is a nationally recognized master of Chinese painting and gold and stone seal carving. His exquisite skills in carving gold and stone seals are something that we, especially I, a disciple of the old man Shiraishi, should put a lot of effort into studying and inheriting. Although I did not learn one percent or one thousandth of the teacher's inscriptions, it is one thousandth of this one, and I have the responsibility and obligation to pass it on. Therefore, over the years, in addition to studying the teacher's knife skills personally, I have also accepted a few students and tried my best to teach them well, so that Mr. Shiraishi's seal carving knife skills will not be lost, so as to be worthy of the country and the people, and to comfort the teacher who passed away.

In 1982, in order to produce the Baishi seal score, the Beijing Library sent someone to find me, to see the seal of Teacher Qi, and also to read the preface written by Teacher Qi for me and the pen list written for me. They asked me why I didn't get a print. It's a long story, I can't remember exactly how old it was in 1930, and my teacher asked me if I could produce a print. I said I didn't dare. The teacher said, "Aren't you carving it now?" If you think it's good, print 100 pages. In the future, when there are enough 120 square meters, 100 copies will be released. "According to the teacher's words, I selected 120 square seals engraved over the years, each side printed 100 pages, and packed them in 120 brown paper bags. I would like to select another 100 square prints from them. Before this work could be done, it caught up with the "Cultural Revolution". What a pity! These intuos, along with other materials, books, correspondence, diaries, etc., were all copied as "four old" and "black materials".

In 1976, after the collapse of the "Gang of Four", some were returned to me, but very little. I was copied 120 paper bags of Intuo, and only 22 bags were returned to me, that is, 22 square Intuo. I handed over the 22 square prints to the Beijing Library. In addition, I collected the seals I had carved in the past from all sides, and with the enthusiastic help of friends from all walks of life, I obtained more than 30 seals, including the seal of "Ice Heart" that was praised by the teacher around 1931. In this way, a total of more than 50 prints were obtained, and the seal collection was named "Liu Shudu Carved Stone Remnant Collection", and was supported by the calligrapher Qi Gong to write the title of the book for the seal collection. In the preface, she wrote that Comrade Wang Qingshu came and showed me a copy of the "Shudu Seal", which was preceded by a paragraph written by the old man Qi Baishi, praising Mr. Liu Shudu's engraving of "Seal Knife Workers without Childishness.. Take the long of the ancients, the short of the teacher's law, and it is especially special for the boudoir." This text is something I've never seen before! The impression of the humble and tranquil Mr. Liu Shudu that I saw 50 years ago has come to my eyes again.

I met Mr. Liu Shudu at Mr. Cheng Chun Fung's house in the early thirties, and Mr. and Mrs. Chun Feng introduced her to me and said that she was very good at engraving. A few days later, Mr. Liu gave me a "Bingxin" stamp with a square knife worker's beautiful seal. I cherish it very much, and I use it often, but Mr. Liu has never boasted to me that he is a disciple of Old Man Baishi, let alone a proud protégé of Old Man. The old man Baishi is famous at home and abroad, and everyone thinks that he has had something to do with him, which is a great honor, like Mr. Liu Shudu never specifically mentioned this relationship between her and the old man Baishi, I think this is her excellence! Comrade Wang Qingshu also brought a letter from Mr. Shudu, saying: "I haven't seen Jiangning for 30 years," and said that she was "sick and bedridden." I also didn't go out for almost two years because of my limited mobility. But I believe that as long as we are all alive, there will still be opportunities for heart-to-heart talks. Let's wish each other good health!

On February 2, 1982, a little later than the Beijing Library, someone from Beijing Normal University came to me to ask for my printbook. I used to have 20 printed books, and I extended them as I go. The collection was bought from the Guyan Museum and is well made. It's a pity that there are only 8 copies left. Beijing Normal University selected 100 square meters of printing and rubbing, which was originally planned to be photocopied and published before the 80th anniversary celebration (October 1982), and named it "Shudu Hundred Seals". Finally, I heard that it would be published as a gift for the 35th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The above two collections are my little heart for the country and the people, and a piece of nostalgia for my mentor Qi Baishi!
