In January 2018, after more than 9 months of renovation and exhibition, the upgraded Yuhuatai Martyrs Memorial Hall was officially opened to the public. Researchers rushed to all parts of the country to read a large number of documents, so that a number of martyrs who were originally "only names" were enriched, and 262 revolutionary cultural relics that had not been publicly exhibited before also entered the public eye for the first time. In June 2020, the Yuhuatai Martyrs Memorial Hall innovatively premiered the red culture "immersive explanation", allowing visitors to change from "bystanders" to "participants" in history and feel the power of faith. In December last year, the Yuhuatai Martyrs Memorial Hall was created as a national first-class museum. As a nationally renowned "red landmark", the Yuhuatai Martyrs' Cemetery has received a total of 2.865 million visitors this year, exceeding the total number of visitors last year.

The small steamer "Jingdian", which once made great achievements in battle, reappeared on the square of the Victory Memorial Hall of crossing the river after restoration, becoming a major highlight. On July 1 this year, after nearly 10 months of renovation, the Victory Memorial Hall of crossing the river reopened and launched the "World Turned upside down - Victory in the Battle of Crossing the River and Nanjing Liberation Exhibition", exhibiting 246 historical pictures and 317 precious cultural relics and documents, reproducing the spectacular scene of the People's Liberation Army's river crossing operation and liberation of Nanjing. In recent years, Nanjing has successively developed a number of new red tourist attractions, and made red resources into high-quality routes. On National Day in 2017, the "Red Li Lane" built by Lishui opened its doors to welcome guests, restoring the former residences of 6 new Fourth Army generals such as Chen Yi, Jiang Weiqing, Zhong Guochu and Mei Zhang. During this year's National Day, many visitors were shocked by the "treasure of the town hall" of the Yuhuatai Martyrs' Memorial Hall, the "Diary before Death" of the martyr He Ruilin. It is a national first-class cultural relic, which has been broken and mutilated after being searched in prison and torn by the Japanese-Kosovar war, and has been hidden in the warehouse for 67 years. In 2019, the Yuhuatai Martyrs Memorial Museum's paper cultural relics protection and restoration project was launched, and experts restored the diary after 5 months.
This is just a microcosm of Nanjing's revitalization of the "red family bottom". There are 1519 martyrs who have left their names in Yuhuatai, however, due to various reasons, many martyrs' deeds have not been fully excavated, and only one name is engraved on the monument. During the Qingming Dynasty in 2016, Nanjing launched the "Red Culture To See the Inheritance and Century Tracing the History of the Homeland" - the oral history collection activity of the close relatives of Yuhua Heroic Martyrs, and the search personnel rushed to nearly 20 provinces and cities, traveled more than 50,000 kilometers, collected rescue oral histories of more than 60 Relatives of Yuhuatai martyrs, formed an interview transcript of about 400,000 words, and edited and published the Oral History of the Close Relatives of Yuhua Heroic Martyrs. In October 2019, Yuhuatai carried out the collection of overseas historical materials for the first time, organized a team of experts to go to Russia and Belarus, and found more than 3,000 pages of precious archives of 11 Yuhua heroes who had worked and studied in the local area. In November 2019, Yuhuatai launched the collection of historical materials of the "Red Star Project", and a total of 633 historical materials of martyrs' relics have been collected, including the manuscripts drawn by Yang Tingbao, the "taidou" of the architectural industry, for the Yuhuatai Martyrs Cemetery.

On the square of the Victory Memorial Hall of crossing the river, the small steamer "Jingdian", a national first-class cultural relic known as the "first boat to cross the river", has also returned to people's sight not long ago after more than a year of restoration. The "Jingdian" small steamer is an important witness to the victory of the Battle of the River Crossing and the liberation of Nanjing. Heroic commanders and fighters of the People's Liberation Army once set up several machine guns on the "Jingdian" and braved artillery fire to cross the Yangtze River and make outstanding military achievements. Since its construction and launch in 1925 by the Shanghai Shen Baoji Shipyard, the "Jingdian" has been nearly 100 years old, and due to its age and wind and sun, there have been different degrees of corrosion. After applying to the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the Victory Memorial Hall of crossing the river adopted the "archaeological" scientific restoration method and successfully restored it on the basis of protection.
At the Meiyuan Xincun Memorial Hall, a number of precious cultural relics that were once hidden in the warehouse are now "re-emerging", which record the hard life of the older generation of revolutionaries. A humble green silk quilt, which had been decolored and whitened, was used by Zhou Enlai from 1946 to 1958. A suitcase that had been following Zhou Enlai since 1936 when dealing with the "Xi'an Incident" was still used for many years after the founding of New China, with worn corners and broken buckles. In order to protect the city's red family foundation, in July this year, the "Nanjing Red Cultural Resources Protection and Utilization Regulations" was officially implemented, which is the first "basic regulation" for the protection and utilization of red cultural resources in Nanjing. The Regulations establish a cross-departmental joint meeting mechanism to coordinate the protection and utilization of red cultural resources.

In the past five years, Nanjing has successively created a number of colorful red literary and artistic works, using dramas, operas, novels, films and television methods, with the help of new media means, to tell the red story of Nanjing.
"Real", "Shocking", "Moving"! In April this year, the drama "Yuhuatai" participated in the "Outstanding Stage Art Exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China" sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Federation of Chinese Literary and Art Circles, and the audience praised it. The creation of red literary and artistic works is endless. The first large-scale original acrobatic drama "Reconnaissance of Crossing the River" with the theme of the Battle of crossing the river, using a variety of acrobatic art forms such as high-altitude climbing and churning stunts, let the audience be refreshed. The Municipal Peking Opera Troupe joined hands with the National Peking Opera House to create a modern Peking opera "Plum Garden Past", which shows the story of the communists represented by Zhou Enlai who did not forget their original intentions, remembered their mission, and bowed down to exhaustion. The city has also established the Red Literature and Art Promotion Association to integrate the city's red literary and artistic resources, promote the in-depth cooperation between the red memorial site and the literary and art circles, and tell the red story in a more infectious art form.
Nanjing also uses the all-media platform to tell red stories in a way that young people like. Before the Qingming Festival in 2018, in the cultural variety show "Letter China" launched on CCTV, Wang Junkai and Zhang Yixing read the family letters of Yuhua Heroic Martyrs, which set off a "red whirlwind" in the "post-90s" and "post-00s", and the video playback exceeded 10 million. On July 9, 2019, a 20-second short video of 107-year-old veteran Red Army Qin Huali to pay homage to his comrade-in-arms Jinfu on Yuhuatai appeared on Douyin for only one day and was read 28 million times. The series of short videos released on Douyin to tell the story of the heroic martyrs of Yuhua have been played more than 14 million times.

In the past five years, Nanjing has also innovatively held various forms of theme exhibitions, social education activities, commemorative activities, red summit forums, etc. for different audience groups, and widely spread the "red fire" in schools, institutions, enterprises, communities, military camps and other social circles, so that the red gene can be passed on from generation to generation.
