On June 2, the Spring City Evening News-Kaiping News reporter learned from the Tengchong Branch of the Baoshan Management and Protection Bureau of Gaoligong Mountain Nature Reserve that recently, when collecting and sorting out infrared camera data, the technical personnel of the bureau were pleased to find from the images recorded by the infrared camera of Da artemisia Ping Station that there were 7 wild boars living leisurely in the forest.
The data shows that from November 3, 2020 to March 29, 2021, the wild boar herd frequently visited the infrared camera, and the infrared camera has taken clear images of the wild boar herd 9 times. According to a technician, from the analysis of individual and morphological characteristics taken by infrared cameras, there are at least 7 wild boars in the area, and more importantly, 3 wild boar pups have been photographed. "From the recorded footage, we can see that 3 piglets are foraging behind the sows, and because they are not yet adults, the coat color of the piglets is obviously different from that of adult wild boars, and the stripes on the back are clearly visible." The technician said that the population has juveniles, sub-adults, adults, individual health, normal population structure, preliminary analysis of these 7 wild boars should belong to a family.
According to the data collected by the Tengchong Branch Bureau, wild boars are widely distributed on the western slope of Gaoligong Mountain, from the jurisdiction of mingguang town autonomous station in the north to the jurisdiction of the whole ding station in wuhe township in the south, and the population number shows a significant growth trend. "Although wild boars are widely distributed around the world, their numbers have been drastically reduced due to factors such as human hunting and a sharp reduction in living environment space, and have been listed as endangered species in many countries." According to the technical staff, the infrared camera frequently recorded the distribution and activity of multiple wild boar populations in the Gaoligong Mountain Reserve, indicating that this species has been effectively bred in the reserve. "In addition to wild boars, rare animal images such as hairy-crowned deer, cloud cats, Himalayan impala, red chamois, bear monkeys, red pandas, white storks, and red-bellied horned pheasants have been taken."
According to a person in charge of Gaoligong Mountain Nature Reserve, Gaoligong Mountain is known as the "world species gene bank" and "refuge of life", and 5726 species and varieties of higher plants in 256 families and 1196 genera have been recorded. According to incomplete statistics, there are 154 species of large mammals, 750 species of birds, 21 species of amphibians, 56 species of reptiles, 49 species of fish, and 1690 species of insects. In recent years, Gaoligong mountain national nature reserve has adopted scientific and effective conservation measures, and the biodiversity conservation in the reserve has achieved remarkable results and stable functions.
