The black-crested is a bird of the genus in the family family. The crown feathers and chest pocket are black, the cheeks are white, the upper body is gray, the wingless spots, the lower body is gray, and the hips are brown.
It feeds mainly on insects such as Coleoptera and Hymenoptera, and also eats some plant foods. It generally lives in alpine forest areas above 2000 meters above sea level, and is often active in alpine coniferous forests and shrublands such as bamboo forests or rhododendrons. Small groups of 3-5 or more in pairs or more.
It is found in China, Bhutan, India, Myanmar and Nepal.
