The Ninth Straits Youth Festival kicked off another season of cross-strait youth exchanges

Fuzhou, October 29 (China News Service) -- Just as the Taiwan Strait cannot stop the eagerness of young people on both sides of the strait to get together, the new crown pneumonia epidemic cannot stop the expectation of youth reunion on both sides of the strait. On the 29th, the Ninth Strait Youth Festival concentrated activities in Fuzhou in an all-round way, the cross-strait youth online and offline to continue the love affair, cohesion of youth strength, open another season of cross-strait youth exchanges.

Since 2013, the Straits Youth Festival has been successfully held for eight sessions, creating distinctive activities such as the Straits Youth Summit, the Cross-Strait University Student Leadership Camp, and the Cross-Strait College Students Entity Construction Competition, attracting 30,000 young people from both sides of the Straits to participate, becoming a "golden signboard" for cross-strait youth exchanges and exchanges.

Plagued by the epidemic, various cross-strait exchange activities may be postponed or cancelled, but the Straits Youth Festival continues to be held, and the status of the platform is more prominent. What is particularly prominent is that this year's Straits Youth Festival innovates the "N + N" cross-strait online and offline multi-city multi-point linkage model, and organizes more Taiwan youth participation activities through the setting up of cross-strait sub-venues to further expand the scale and coverage of Taiwan youth participation.

Wu Fengjiao, vice president of a pro-research institute on both sides of the strait of Minnan Normal University, pointed out that due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic and the complex situation of cross-strait relations, cross-strait exchange activities and personnel exchanges have been greatly hindered, but cross-strait youth exchanges and cooperation have not been interrupted; the Straits Youth Day has effectively broken through the spatial barrier through the rich "cloud" exchange method, and promoted mutual understanding and friendship between young people on both sides of the strait.

Opening another season of cross-strait youth exchanges, this year's Straits Youth Day actively explores new channels and new paths for cross-strait youth experiential exchanges under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, focusing on the concerns of Young People in Taiwan.

It can be seen from the activity arrangement that this year's Straits Youth Festival focuses on the theme of "cooperation, development and future", adopts the form of combining online and offline, multi-site and multi-point linkage, and holds 24 activities throughout the year, covering maritime Fujian, digital economy, rural revitalization, community building, non-genetic inheritance, entrepreneurship and innovation, meteorological environmental protection, culture and art, physical education and many other fields, widely inviting young people from both sides of the strait to participate in the design of activities, with more diverse forms and more creative content.

Moreover, this year's Straits Youth Festival released more than 1,200 high-quality jobs for young people in Taiwan, providing opportunities and platforms for Young People from Taiwan to come to the mainland to pursue their dreams and realize their dreams.

The Straits Youth Summit held in the afternoon of the same day invited outstanding Young People from Taiwan who had won various honorary titles from the mainland to participate in the activities, and combined with hot topics such as Taiwan compatriots going to the mainland for vaccination and lunar exploration projects, shared the stories of entrepreneurship, employment, study and life on the mainland, and showed the responsibilities of young people on both sides of the strait in fighting the epidemic, scientific and technological innovation, rural revitalization, and community governance.

Taking the Straits Youth Festival as the starting point, many young people in Taiwan have also opened a "nother season" of entrepreneurship and employment on the mainland, and found a stage for chasing dreams, building dreams, and realizing dreams.

Through the 6th Straits Youth Festival, Taiwanese youth Zeng Zhiying was given the opportunity to participate in the renovation project of Meicheng Imprint Historical and Cultural Block in Minqing County, Fuzhou City in 2017. Over the past four years, she has led the team to deeply participate in the construction of the first and second phases of the project, and through the project, she has established a foothold in Fuzhou. With this as a starting point, she began to explore the vast countryside of the mainland, and used her "Taiwan experience" to provide suggestions for the revitalization of rural areas in various places.

"I very much hope that the two sides of the strait can join hands and integrate development." Zeng Zhiying, who came to attend this year's Straits Youth Festival, said in an interview with a reporter from the China News Agency.

Relevant people from the Fuzhou Municipal Government said that this year's Cross-Strait Youth Festival focuses on the cooperation between young people on both sides of the strait to show the opportunities brought by the new era for the growth of young people on both sides of the strait, and at the same time actively explores a new road for the integration and development of youth on both sides of the strait under the epidemic situation, and strives to provide new opportunities and build a new platform for Taiwanese youth to develop in the mainland in the new development stage.
