Summer vacation is coming, and many parents are thinking about which training institution to choose.
However, this year may be different.
Online education companies such as Homework Help, Good Future, and Ape Tutoring are facing significant layoffs.
A laid-off employee of the homework gang said:
Further ahead, 15 off-campus training institutions were fined the top, totaling 36.5 million yuan.
Many parents are worried: Will there be no teachers to make up lessons for their children in the future?
When the homework is piled up and the lessons are made up, parents and children suffer.
But after the possibility of not making up the lessons, we began to panic again:
Don't have a variety of interest classes to fill the baby's time, just let the ta crazy play?
What should I do if the kindergarten does not learn and the child is lagging behind?
"Can kindergarten play, should it play?"
In fact, developed countries have also experienced a similar stage as China today, had similar confusion, and done a series of studies for this purpose, but the results are very surprising...
Kindergarten is forced to learn for children
Grow up and lose to playing "scum" every day?
About 50 years ago, German society began to discuss a problem, that is:
What should the focus of kindergartens be on?
Is to carry out subject training in preparation for primary school;
Or do you do all kinds of games to give you a good chance to play?
Government-backed German researchers compared graduates from 50 play-based kindergartens and 50 academic direct-instruction-based kindergartens.
The results showed that the advantages of those who learned ahead of time could only be maintained until the 4th grade (9-10 years old at most), and after the 4th grade, their grades began to plummet, with significant disadvantages in reading and math, and social and emotional differences.
It is not an exaggeration to describe these children as "running away for four years and ruining a lifetime".
To this end, the German government urgently suspended the preschool education reform plan; today, the German Basic Law clearly stipulates that kindergartens are not allowed to teach professional knowledge.
In the United States, there are similar experiments.
In 1967, David Weikart wanted to know whether advanced educational behavior would have a longer-term effect on children, so he tracked 68 children in the Ypsilanti area of Michigan for 20 years, which somewhat subverted our view of education.
The survey first assigned children into three different classes:
A. Traditional type: this type of class does not teach any written knowledge in advance, and interacts with children with games and practices for daily education;
B. Hybrid: have a mature set of educational concepts, and will do homework in the classroom;
C. Academic type: direct teaching of knowledge, large amount of homework, there are tests and scores distinguished, similar to domestic classrooms.
The results found that the short-term effects were consistent with the German study:
Grade 4:
Before the age of 10, the children in the C group (the group that learned to do homework every day) were significantly better than the AB group, but then this advantage gradually decreased until it disappeared.
Junior high school youth:
After the age of 15, there was no significant difference in the academic performance of the three groups of ABC children, but in terms of social and emotional ability, group C lagged behind the ab group across the board and was more likely to have rebellious behavior.
As an adult:
After the age of 23, C group graduates are more likely to have friction with people, more likely to have emotional disorders, and more difficult to have a normal marriage. Attain happiness.
Even more frightening is that the crime rate of the children in group C is 3 times higher than that of the other two groups, and their crime rate is as high as 39%, while the average of the other two groups is 13.5%. (It should be noted that the sample taken by the US study is highly impoverished areas, so the crime rate will be higher than that of the general area))
Research in Germany and the United States tells us that the advantages of running education are temporary (only until the fourth grade of children), but the damage is profound.
The most important thing in kindergarten
What is it?
Experiments tell us that rushing education does more harm than good.
But many parents still struggle: Do you just let your children play? Do we, as parents, do nothing? That's irresponsible!
I remembered a short story I saw recently:
In a parent-child group class, a 4-year-old father with a dragon and phoenix fetus asked his child what class to apply for.
The teacher replied that the 2 most important things before the age of 6 are to eat and sleep.
As soon as this statement came out, the hall laughed.
While reflecting on their anxieties, parents lament that educational anxiety has reached such a level.
It is common sense to want to give children the best education, but the best education is not simply and rudely competing for the lead, but to give appropriate parenting according to the characteristics of children's physical and mental development.
How do you know what parenting your child needs most at each stage?
Bruce Perry, a prominent psychologist and neuroscientist, has proposed a neural order model.
This model roughly divides human brain function, from low to high, into four levels:
Guarantee the survival function of breathing and heartbeat;
Coordination of the motor function of the limbs;
The emotional function of regulating emotions;
Thinking function for learning.
When a child grows up slowly from an embryo, the first thing that develops is the first layer of the brain's function, the survival function.
In the first year after birth, the child mainly concentrates on practicing controlling his own limbs, and develops the second layer of the brain's function, motor function.
For preschoolers, the level of cognitive development is relatively limited, and they are not physiologically prepared to "sit down and learn".
In fact, what they need to develop most at this time is the third layer of the brain's function- emotional function.
They need to learn from life, from their own limited known world. Feel with the body, perceive with emotions.
What they need to exercise is the ability to tolerate setbacks, the ability to regulate emotions, and the ability to socialize, rather than carrying expectations to learn the meaning of addition and subtraction, recognize more Chinese characters, and memorize words and ancient poems.
This also explains why rushing to learn will have such a big impact on children?
Because of the heavy learning tasks, the thinking function that should have developed in the fourth stage was advanced, and the time that should have developed the emotional function was squeezed out.
Children who run away, they are weaker than children who go to normal school in terms of frustration, social interaction, emotional management, etc., and are more likely to be troubled by negative emotions.
Therefore, as they age, children with emotional deficits not only can no longer maintain their academic advantages, but also have a harder time perceiving happiness than the average person, and may even have a higher crime rate.
What is the most important thing about kindergarten?
It is the third level of function that develops the child: emotional function (or emotional intelligence ability), which lays the foundation for the future of the child.
Sharpen the knife without mistakenly chopping wood.
Children who are more secure, more independent, more confident, more resistant, more able to regulate their emotions and social interactions will be more likely to achieve good grades in school and more likely to have a happy life!
Science cultivates emotional intelligence
Give your child a happy and successful life
Safety, independence, self-confidence, frustration resistance, anger management and other abilities actually belong to the category of emotional intelligence.
Professor Harari, author of the best-selling books A Brief History of Mankind and A Brief History of the Future, said: "In the face of the future of artificial intelligence, human beings rely on emotional intelligence and resilience to win. ”
If we can develop these emotional intelligence in the early stages of life, our children's future academic performance, habit formation, interpersonal communication, work adaptation, intimate relationships and other aspects of development will be more worry-free and smooth, and it will be easier to achieve success and feel happy!
Dr. Zhang Yijun, a well-known psychologist and expert in emotional intelligence education, led a professional team of psychology to develop for many years and established the "Early Childhood Emotional Intelligence Age-sharing Development and Education System", and children at each age stage have emotional intelligence suitable for development.
If the current stage of the baby's emotional intelligence development is insufficient, the parenting process of parents may encounter various problems -
Babies love to lose their temper and cry at every turn, which makes people have a headache.
The child is not confident, does not dare to speak in public, and does not know what to do.
Children especially like to play games, and good habits are difficult to form.
……
Parenting articles read countless articles, and the children forgot all about them.
Experts have had countless sessions in online classes, and the children have no sense when they cry.
Obviously, I want to be a good parent, I am fully invested in time and energy, and I am still helpless when I encounter problems.
These headaches of parenting are like a locked door. Inexperienced parents can not move how to bump and how to smash, anxiety and despair are naturally inevitable.
But if you find the right key to insert into the lock, the door opens with a gentle push.
Behind this "door of parenting problems" that parents can't smash, it is written that "children's emotional intelligence is underdeveloped".
And the name of this key is called "Early Childhood Emotional Intelligence Education".
