Warehouse worker Adam Howworth, then 29, had reportedly planned a date with 27-year-old Chloe Spencer, but his ex-girlfriend abruptly canceled the date. Adam, who thought there was nothing, found his girlfriend hanging at home the next morning.
The medical examiner estimated that she chose to hang herself shortly after sending a text message to Adam at 3 a.m., and that it was only two hours after she committed suicide until she was discovered.
Six days later, Adam committed suicide by lying on the tracks of a train near his home. But the police believe that Adam actually tried to jump off the tracks at the last minute, but was killed by the train before it was too late, and his body was injured in multiple places when he died.
In June, two separate investigations into the couple's deaths were released on the same day, and details about the tragedy surfaced at Bolton Corona Court.
Adam's mother, Ann Lloyd, said at the hearing: "Adam and Chloe had agreed on a date, but Chloe suddenly canceled it. The next day Adam unexpectedly received a call from a friend saying that his girlfriend had committed suicide, and Adam was heartbroken. ”
Unexpectedly, after his girlfriend's funeral, that is, the sixth day after Chloe's death, Adam also chose to end his life.
Chloe's mother, Deborah Spencer, said Chloe had been sexually assaulted a few years earlier, so she had been suffering from mental health problems. And on the night Chloe chose to end her life, she was still talking to her mother on the phone, which was nothing unusual.
Chloe never revealed her thoughts of ending her life to her family or psychiatrist. Her death was a huge blow to her family.
Lee Owen, chief inspector of the British Transport Police, said: "Adam was very saddened by his girlfriend's death, and when he came out of the funeral, he was very upset, saying that he could not lift her coffin and said that he wanted to be with her."
People cannot be resurrected from the dead, and it is better to care for the people around them from the moment than to choose "martyrdom" recklessly.
