Kwan has participated in the Olympic Games twice, the first time at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, where Kwan won the silver medal. The second time was the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, when Kwan made a mistake in jumping and only won the bronze medal. Guan Yingshan is a contemporary of chen lu, a famous Chinese figure skater, and the two have repeatedly reached the podium at the world championships.
