Recently, Guizhou butterfly scholar Chen Zhengjun found a rare mesh butterfly in Wudang District, Guiyang City, the butterfly measured the wingspan of about 8cm, the size of the medium-sized butterfly, the front and back wings are covered with black spots, the front and back wings have yellow spots on the outer edge of the reverse side, and the black spots on the wing surface, eye spots and white stripes are staggered.
According to Chen Zhengjun, this is another discovery by an individual following the discovery of the rare ming window butterfly in the suburbs of Guiyang in March 2020, which is a butterfly species that was not included in the catalogue of his book "Butterflies in Guizhou". To this end, he specifically consulted butterfly experts across the country, and the information obtained was that the mesh butterfly was mainly distributed in the mountains and streams with a certain altitude in the north to Qinling, the southern tip to Guangdong, and the west to Yunnan.
Chen Zhengjun said that Guizhou is located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, and there are 24,547 species of biological species in the province that are officially and authoritatively counted, and the richness, uniqueness and diversity of biodiversity are among the top in the country. Among them, the unit area density of the number of wild animal species ranks third in the country, so in the surrounding ecological forest belt around Guiyang, the previously unrecorded or rare precious butterfly species have been found one after another, which is undoubtedly a portrayal of the colorful ecological Guiyang.
