The large knife slashed at the heads of the devils
Today is September 18, 2021, listening to the sirens outside the window and remembering, can't help but remind people of the previous years of the War of Resistance, remind people of heroic resistance fighters, remind people of the "Day of National Shame" to always sound the alarm bell, always work hard, make the motherland strong and prosperous. This article excerpts the anti-Japanese deeds of a general from southwestern Lu, Zhao Dengyu (lieutenant general of the Nationalist Army, posthumously awarded the army general after his death), as a memorial.
General Zhao Dengyu (赵登禹), courtesy name Shuncheng (舜臣), born in 1898 and died on July 28, 1937, was a native of Mudan District, Heze City, Shandong Province. Zhao Dengyu's family was poor, and at the age of 13, he studied martial arts with a famous teacher, and You Shan grabbed a knife with his bare hands and a gun with his bare hands. At the age of 16, he joined the 16 mixed brigade led by General Feng Yuxiang as a soldier.
On September 18, 1931, the Japanese devils launched the "918" incident of invading Northeast China. On March 9, 1933, Zhao Dengyu was ordered to lead the 109th Brigade from Jixian County, led his troops to aid Xifengkou, and launched a fierce battle with the Japanese Plutonium Division. After three days of fierce fighting, Xifengkou changed hands several times, and the two sides suffered heavy casualties, and Zhao Dengyu's left leg was also injured by enemy shells. On the night of March 11, Zhao Dengyu was wounded and organized three regiments of death squads, carrying large knives and grenades, to attack the Japanese artillery positions and camps in two ways at night, and at three or four o'clock in the night, they entered the enemy camp and killed more than 500 Japanese troops. The victory of the night attack at Xifengkou made Zhao Dengyu and his big knife team famous and well known to passers-by. Mai Xin, a musician who was far away in Shanghai, was excited by the heroism of Zhao Dengyu's big knife team and composed the famous anti-Japanese song "Big Knife March", and since then, "big knife cut off the heads of devils" has been sung all over the country.
On July 7, 1937, the Lugou Bridge Incident broke out. On July 26, Zhao Dengyu was ordered by the military commander Song Zheyuan to rush to Nanyuan and jointly take charge of the defense of Beiping with the deputy commander Tong Linge. In the early morning of July 28, the Japanese army concentrated three companies of infantry, one company of artillery and more than 30 aircraft to attack Nanyuan. Zhao Dengyu led his troops to fight with the Japanese army for six hours, and suffered heavy casualties under the bombardment and strafing of enemy aircraft artillery. At noon, Song Zheyuan ordered Zhao Dengyu to lead his troops to assemble at the Great Red Gate. When Zhao Dengyu's car reached the Dahongmen Yuhe Bridge, he was suddenly strafed by the machine guns of the Japanese ambush, and Zhao Dengyu was shot several times in his body and was covered in blood. He said to the messengers around him: "I will not be well, it is the duty of the soldiers to die on the battlefield, there is nothing to be sad about." It's just that the old mother is old and can't stand the fright, please arrange it for me, in addition, I have nothing else to worry about. After saying that, a generation of anti-Japanese celebrities stopped breathing, only 39 years old.
In the 1939 Japanese issue of "History of Continental Warfare", Zhao Dengyu said: "A nightmare under the day" said. After the founding of New China, the people's government confirmed Zhao Dengyu as an anti-Japanese martyr. In 1952, the people's government issued a "Glorious Commemorative Certificate for the Families of Soldiers Who Died in the Revolution" with the number "Beijing Character No. 000" and signed by Mao Zedong himself, which read: "Comrade Zha Zhao Dengyu made a glorious sacrifice in the revolutionary struggle, his great deeds are immortal, and his family members should be respected by society." In addition to the pensions issued in accordance with the "Interim Regulations on The Commendation of Revolutionary Soldiers' Sacrifices and Deaths", this certificate is also issued as a souvenir. Dated June 11, 1952". In September 2009, Zhao Dengyu was selected as one of the "100 Heroic And Exemplary Figures Who Made Outstanding Contributions to the Founding of New China" by 11 departments, including the Central Propaganda Department and the Organization Department of the Central Committee.
Finally, let us pay tribute to the anti-Japanese heroes!
