Wang Zunsan

Wang Zunsan (1892--1968.4.6), formerly known as Wang Jiuru, alias Yu Jiabi, stage name Jin Cai, a native of Dongyuekou Village, Tang County. At the age of 8, he began to learn the Xihe drum from his teacher, and then participated in instrumental music clubs in the village, learning to play the big pipe, play the three strings, play the huqin, etc. From 1927 to 1937, he successively sold books in Kaifeng, Jinan, Dezhou, Shijiazhuang, Hengshui, Taiyuan, Zhangjiakou, Jining, Baoding, Xingtai and so on. During this period, he not only deeply drilled the techniques of various genres of Xihe big drum, but also learned the Jingyun big drum, pear blossom big drum, Henan pendant and folk tunes from all over the world, and made new breakthroughs in rap art and formed his own artistic style. The stage name was also widely disseminated. At the same time, it also brought out a group of young artists.

After the "July 7 Incident", he returned to his hometown from Datong to participate in the anti-Japanese work, organized the Anti-Japanese National Salvation Self-Defense Association in his village, and served as the deputy director. At the beginning of 1938, he served as the deputy village chief of Dongyuekou Village. In August of the same year, he went to work in the government of the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region and created plays such as "Great War Pingxingguan", "Defending Great Wuhan", and "Protracted War" to carry out propaganda to resist Japan and save the country. In July 1939, he went to work in the Tang County Cultural Circles Anti-Japanese Salvation Congress, and soon joined the Communist Party of China, and served as the director of the Tang County Anti-Enemy Support Association. In response to the anti-communist upsurge provoked by the Diehards of the Kuomintang, he wrote new books such as "The Anhui Incident" and "Cracking Down on Stubbornness," and also wrote drum lyrics such as "Unified Progressive Tax" and "Large-scale Production of Wasteland" for publicizing the party's policies. During the Liberation War, he composed "Anti-False Peace", "Oath of Great Counteroffensive", "Qingfengdian Annihilation War", "Seeing the Sky Again", "The Little Girl of Jin-Cha-Ji", and the adapted "Wang Gui and Li Xiangxiang" and "Little Erhei Marriage" long drum lyrics, which spread throughout the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region. During the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, he created "Ma Yuxiang, Hero of the Volunteer Army," "Battle of Pyongyang," and "Cai Jintong, a Meritorious Hero of the People." He also created "Liu Fenglan" with the content of "three antis" and "five antis", "Two Wishes" and "Feng Junying's Divorce" to promote the new marriage law, and adapted the long drum book "The Biography of the New Children's Hero" and "Rap Red Lantern". At the same time, it has adapted folklore and sorted out a number of traditional music and art works, such as "Mu Guiying Guiding the Way", "Yang Jiajian", "Meng JiangNu", "Three Generations", "Golden Circle", etc., which have made great contributions to the development of China's music and art industry.

In July 1949, he attended the All-China Congress of Literary and Art Workers and was elected as the chairman of the Preparatory Committee of the China Quyi Improvement Association. In September of the same year, he was appointed as the chief of the editing and review section of the Opera Improvement Bureau of the Ministry of Culture. In 1953, he attended the Second Congress of Chinese Literary and Art Workers, and was elected as the chairman of the Chinese Quyi Research Association and a member of the China Federation of Literature and Literature. In 1956, he was elected as a member of the Fourth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He died on April 6, 1968, at the age of 76.

In January 1988, the Tang County People's Government erected a monument to Wang Zunsan. In the same year, China Quyi Publishing House published "Selected Works of Wang Zun Sanqu". Contains 40 of his works and articles.
