At the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, Yamaha exhibited two electric motorcycles in Japan, which were still concept motorcycles at the time. One of them is named after "E01". Recently, the actual car of this car has arrived, and a test drive will be held on December 15, but the test car is painted in camouflage.
At this stage, the name and specifications of this electric motor have not yet been announced, but one thing that can be determined is that the way to charge the battery is not in the form of a battery replacement, but similar to the Yamaha E-Vino electric vehicle, using plug-in charging. The E01 motorcycle is scheduled to be launched in Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia after this spring.
About the approximate technical specifications of the E01, the battery life of the E01 will far exceed the range of the Yamaha E-Vino. It is also possible to switch driving modes between Eco, Normal, and Power. The real car is indeed wrapped in camouflage stickers, but we can see from the photos that the shape and details of the body are very similar to the previous Yamaha E01 concept version at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. It can be said that almost 90% of the concept version of the design has been restored.
The E01's headlights are interesting, this is the design used on the R1/R6 sports car, and this combination also makes the E01's front end look a bit new energy. It is said that the position of the traditional headlight is a cover plate, and when opened, the inside is a charging port.
The design of the gauge looks similar to Yamaha's Scooter, with a medium-sized windshield, and it also has the same LED turn signals as the new MT25 or R7. The information displayed on the Yamaha E01 dashboard is a speedometer, power meter or battery level indicator, and there is a riding mode below, as mentioned in the opening paragraph, there are 3 driving modes on this E01.
Compared with the concept car, the details and dimensions of the seats are indeed different, in the Yamaha E01 concept car, the seats are also rear body, but in the test version, it can be said that the production version, the seat shape is more practical.
The Yamaha E01 is equipped with a keyless feature, and its knob shape is exactly the same as the Maxi motorcycle that has been circulating. In the left corner of the image, you can see the storage compartment.
The E01 uses 13-inch tires similar to the NMax, and the wheel stems are similar in design to new NMax, Aerox, and Lexi, using six Y-shaped rims. The front suspension features the same 31mm pipe diameter as the Yamaha NMax, which clearly guarantees good handling, and it is foreseeable that the weight of this car will not be much different from the current Yamaha NMax 125/155.
The installation position of the double-barrel rear suspension is different from that of the traditional pedal model, and because the position of the motor is in the middle of the vehicle, there is a slight gap above the rear wheel, which adopts the form of belt transmission, but the rear pulley is not completely wrapped.
The pedals for the feet also look quite spacious, and the position of the feet is more comfortable, in fact, the general outline is still a bit like NMAX, but the E01 will look a little more sci-fi.
