Among the founding generals of new China, some of them did not step by step, retreat from the second line of leadership positions, and then leave; instead died in the work, like Lieutenant General Pi Dingjun.
Speaking of General Pi Dingjun, the first impression is the breakthrough of the Central Plains, he led 7,000 people to cover the westward retreat of the main force, all the way to the Suwan region, and met with the central China brothers.
It has to be said that this unit is the one with the least loss in the Central Plains Breakthrough.
When they came to East China, although the troops fought in East China, they did not have a relationship of belonging, and they stayed behind to help the East China troops fight many battles. The brigade was later reorganized as an independent division.
Before reorganizing the independent division, Pi Dingjun was transferred to the 6th Column as deputy commander to help commander Wang Bicheng in battle. Later, his old unit returned to North China and was expanded with other units into the 13th Column of the North China Military Region, and he fought alone in East China.
In the East China Field Army, he has been serving as a deputy, and although he has participated in many battles, he has appeared to be somewhat low-key.
After the outbreak of the Korean War, he served as the commander of the Volunteer Army, and later transferred to Fujian as the deputy commander of the Fujian Military Region.
In 1956, after the military region was upgraded to a large military region, he also became the deputy commander of the large military region, and worked in Fuzhou until 1969, when he was transferred out of the Lanzhou Military Region as a commander.
He worked in Lanzhou for four years, and then returned to the Fuzhou Military Region again in 1973 as a commander. Unfortunately, during a military exercise in 1976, he was tragically killed.
Not long after, the Central Military Commission instructed Yang Chengwu, Liang Biye, and Zhang Zhen to form a working group and go to Fujian to deal with the aftermath. The identities of these three generals are not simple.
Yang Chengwu served as the first deputy director of the General Staff Department, Liang Biye served as the first deputy director of the General Political Department, and Zhang Zhen served as the first deputy director of the General Logistics Department.
They went to the Fuzhou Military Region to listen to the report and investigate the cause of the plane crash. It turned out that when the three armed forces crossed the sea combat exercise was conducted on Dongshan Island, Commander Pi Dingjun asked to personally organize and command, but the weather conditions were not good, and he was unfortunately killed.
