Antique decoration style, collection of calligraphy and paintings and old objects... Walking into Gao Bin's restaurant, just looking at these displays and decorations, it is difficult to associate them with mass catering. Gao Bin's restaurant is located in the Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe District) Zhongya South Road community jurisdiction, specializing in Sichuan cuisine, from the appearance can not see its uniqueness, but into the second floor of the box area, as if everything is quiet.

【Entrepreneurial Community】When food and culture meet, what kind of spark does Gao Bin's restaurant spark?

"From the day I entered the restaurant industry, I wanted to build a branded restaurant with culture." Gao Bin talked about the original intention of starting a business.

In 1994, after graduating from a university in Guangxi, Gao Bin was assigned to work in the local grain bureau, which was the period of national large-scale development and construction, encouraging "going to the sea", he worked in the grain bureau for less than a year, he "went to the sea" to start a business, engaged in home appliances, information and other industries, but it was not very smooth, and he lost money.

"Because I missed my hometown so much, I chose to return to Urumqi." Gao Bin said that after returning, he wanted to challenge a new industry, so he went to a friend's restaurant to "learn from the experience".

In 2009, Gao Bin officially entered the catering industry and co-founded the "Xiaodongtian" brand restaurant with friends, positioning itself as a delicate home-cooked dish. According to this goal, within three years, "Xiaodongtian" opened three chain stores, the largest of which was 5,000 square meters. Slowly gaining experience in the catering industry, Gao Bin wants to have his own catering brand. In 2013, Gao Bin built a "Good Day" restaurant.

It is said that food has a memory, many people miss the taste of childhood, miss the taste of their hometown, in addition to cooking methods and chef's skills, ingredients are a key. Gao Bin often went to various provinces and cities across the country to select the best ingredients, such as the need to use sauerkraut, he went to the production site of sauerkraut, tried one by one, tried dozens of kinds, and finally found his own satisfactory taste.

For Gao Bin, making catering is not only about making taste, but also about having a good environment and cultural taste. "What culture tastes the most?" Of course, it is our excellent traditional Chinese culture. Gao Bin said that when he was renovating the storefront, he went through designers to look for old objects with historical heritage and culture.

A long stool on the second floor is particularly conspicuous, about 3 meters long, weighing more than 30 kilograms, with mottled paint and a sense of age. "This is from a village in Yunnan, and the carving can be seen through the pattern carved on the stool." Gao Bin touched the pattern on the side of the stool and said.

Similar old objects also have some cabinets, chairs, hanging paintings, etc., Gao Bin often studied these old objects in the box, and consulted relevant historical and cultural stories, and then explained to the waiter. "When customers are waiting for food, they can appreciate these old objects, and the waiter can also explain to customers." Gao Bin said that he wanted to make every box in the restaurant have a cultural atmosphere.

Recently, after learning that Urumqi is building an entrepreneurial community, Gao Bin is also encouraged, because the community of South Central Asia Road where he is located is the entrepreneurial community piloted by the Economic Development Zone (Tou District) this year. Gao Bin said that the spring of entrepreneurship has arrived, and he plans to open 4 more stores this year to build "Good Day" into a brand restaurant chain with real culture.
