Retreat is advance
Lao Tzu has always advocated retreat, guard, weakness, and softness. He has a unique set of dialectics, he believes that "generous and boundless, large instruments late, loud sounds, elephants invisible", retreat is to advance, weak is strong.
In the Zhou Yi, it is said, "He who knows whether he advances or retreats without losing his righteousness is the only saint." People who only know how to advance are very dangerous, and the real wise people know how to use the wisdom of "retreat", just like after Zeng Guofan captured Nanjing, he took the initiative to request the dismissal of the Xiang army and surrender the power in his hands.
There is a slang poem called "The Song of Planting Seedlings" that says:
Fill the field with green seedlings by hand, and look down at the sky in the water; The purification of the body and mind is the way, and the retreat is the forward.
Sometimes, calm down, a step back can solve the problem, the so-called step back to the sea and the sky. And blindly rushing forward will actually mess things up.
In the Zhou Yi, it is also said that the inchworm is bent in order to seek faith. The sting of the dragon and the snake to survive also.
Inchworm (a small invertebrate) bends the body to stretch longer; The dragon snake stalked its body in order to escape the harsh winter cold and allow itself to continue to survive.
From the habits of inchworms and dragon snakes, we can see the ups and downs of life in the rise and fall of the world - for the sake of long-term development, temporarily grievances in order to accumulate strength. Regression is the accumulation of progress, a kind of preparation, a kind of accumulation of energy or strength.
In Lao Tzu's view, those who are competitive and competitive are lacking in resilience. So he said, "If things are strong, they are old, because they are not Tao, and they are not Already in the Tao."] American psychologists have also announced that people who are too competitive are prone to cardiovascular disease, thereby shortening their lifespan.
To give is to get
Lao Tzu said in the Tao Te Ching that the more one thinks of oneself, the more one has; The more one has with others, the more one has. That is to say, Lao Tzu believed that the more he could help others, the richer he would be; The more often the person who gives and shares things with others, the more he will have his own things.
In the Chu-Han War, after Han Xin captured the State of Qi, he asked Liu Bang to first make him a false King of Qi so that he could govern the State of Qi, so that he could have the strength to return to aid against Xiang Yu.
Liu Bang was furious when he found out, and after Zhang Liang's persuasion, Liu Bang immediately identified: What I was angry about was why I was asked to seal a fake Qi king, do it to be true, and seal Han Xin true Qi king. Therefore, Han Xin was enfeoffed as the King of Qi, returned to help Liu Bang, and finally eliminated Xiang Yu.
If Liu Bang had not made Han Xin the King of Qi at that time, I am afraid that the outcome of the Chu-Han war would not have been the same as in history.
Of course, "giving is getting" is not a kind of power art, not to sacrifice small private interests in exchange for their own greater self-interest, but a kind of heart, a realm.
Confucius also agreed with Daozu, who praised the nine natures of water: like virtue, like righteousness, like Tao, like courage, like law, like righteousness, like cha, like goodness, like zhi, like zhi, "is therefore a gentleman who sees the water must look at it." ”
Zeng Guofan said that "having a heart of good things" (with a heart of anxiety and hardship) is a noble face, which coincides with Lao Tzu's "good fortune and all things".
To be a person, you must have a heart that is willing to help others and achieve others, and this kind of heart is the best feng shui for a person and a family.
