Hong Kong adds 5 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 The SAR government will continue to increase vaccination sites

Hong Kong, January 15 (Xinhua) -- The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced on the 15th that as of 00:00 on the same day, there were 5 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in Hong Kong. At present, Hong Kong has reported a cumulative total of 13,030 confirmed cases of covid-19.

It is reported that the 5 confirmed cases announced on the same day, of which 3 were imported cases; there were about 10 preliminary positive cases, of which 1 involved a cargo aircraft cabin cleaner.

Statistics show that from the official launch of the COVID-19 vaccination programme on 26 February 2021 to 14 January 2022, a total of about 5.107 million residents in Hong Kong have received the first dose of the vaccine, accounting for 75.8% of the number of eligible free vaccinations; about 4.717 million residents have received the second dose of the vaccine, accounting for 70% of the number of eligible free vaccinations.

From 11 November 2021, eligible Hong Kong residents will receive a third dose of covid-19 vaccine free of charge, with 626535 so far.

The Secretary for civil service of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Mr Nie Tak-kuen, said on the same day that the HKSAR Government will continue to increase the number of COVID-19 vaccination sites and vaccinations, respond to the public's demand for vaccination, thereby speeding up vaccination and building a protective barrier for the Hong Kong community.
