As everyone knows, Xuanzong's credulity to An Lushan led to the expansion of his ambitions, and then he raised an army to rebel, forcing Xuanzong Ma Songyi to kill Yang Guifei and flee into Xichuan alone.
However, I am afraid that few people know that if there were two people alive at that time, An Lushan would never dare to oppose it! One person is Li Linfu, who claims to be a sword with a honey belly, and this person is not to be discussed. The other was Wang Zhongsi, who was known as the first general of the Sheng Tang Dynasty.
As everyone knows, in order to win the trust of Xuanzong, An Lushan worshipped Yang Guifei as his adoptive mother, although An Lushan was more than ten years older than Yang Guifei. However, Wang Zhongsi's relationship was much more noble than that of this noble concubine's adopted son.
Wang Zhongsi was a veritable adopted son of Emperor Xuanzong, and in the battle against Tubo, his father Wang Haibin served as the vanguard of Marshal Xue Rengui. The so-called vanguard is actually similar to the scouts of modern troops, in addition to opening the way to detect the enemy's situation, but also to test the danger, if you are not careful, you will be besieged by the enemy, and eventually the whole army will be destroyed, Wang Zhongsi's father is like this.
Wang Haibin and the enemy met at Wujieyi in Weizhou, and the two sides fought bitterly, and the end of this battle ended with Wang Haibin's fiasco. Wang Haibin is also a tiger general, known for his bravery.
Old Book of Tang, Chronicles 53: Wang Zhongsi, a Native qi of Taiyuan, home in Zheng County, Huazhou. Father Haibin, Crown Prince Right Guard, Feng'an Military Envoy, Taigu Nan, with Xiao Yong Wen Longshang.
Everyone will definitely wonder, why did such a tiger general fail? It should be known that at this time, the Tang army had been fighting for many years, claiming to have destroyed countless countries.
This was because the tang dynasty and Tubo's main forces acted very differently in the future, Tubo was in a hurry to send troops to intercept Wang Haibin, but the history books record that the Tang army was jealous of its merits and did not save the troops. Wang Haibin was outnumbered and eventually killed on the battlefield. After Wang Haibin's death, those who watched the battle led a large army to kill, defeated Tubo, and beheaded tens of thousands.
Xuanzong actually knew what was going on, but there was no way, after all, the battle was won, it was not good to punish everyone, otherwise the military would be unstable.
At that time, Wang Zhongsi was only 9 years old, and was later brought into Chang'an, where he was in pain when facing Emperor Xuanzong. Emperor Xuanzong, remembering that his father had died in battle for the country, brought him into the palace and raised him as a son. At this time, An Lushan didn't know where to cool down.
Wang Zhongsi grew up in the palace and played well with Li Heng, the King of Zhong. And Xuanzong valued him very much, and at that time, Xuanzong also had the ambition of a great bird, and wanted to create a Ming Jun who was no less than Taizong's merits. So he personally taught him the art of war, hoping to train Wang Zhongsi to become his pioneering and enterprising confidant.
Wang Zhongsi is also a good child, although he grew up in the palace, he did not learn a little bad, but was self-disciplined and self-reliant, and when he grew up, he was even more majestic and resolute. Xuanzong always praised him, and he will surely become a generation of famous generals in the future.
In 730, Wang Zhongsi entered the Tubo Campaign and was incorporated into Xiao Song's subordinates. However, before leaving, Emperor Xuanzong secretly ordered Xiao Song not to send Wang Zhongsi to an important position, for fear that he would be in danger of revenge for his father.
In this way, Wang Zhongsi stayed here for three years without achieving anything, but the opportunity was always left to those who were prepared.
In 733, just as Xiao Song was returning to Chang'an to report for duty, Wang Zhongsi broke Tubo with hundreds of cavalry and became famous in world war I. So Xiao Song asked for credit for him, and Wang Zhongsi was made a general of Zuo Weiwei, and since then Wang Zhongsi has been out of control.
Soon after, when Hexi Jiedushi wanted to capture the new city, all the generals had a difficult face. Someone then recommended Wang Zhongsi to the Envoy of Hexi Jiedu, and single-handedly rushed into the enemy position to break through Tubo. After many meritorious service, in 741 AD, he was promoted to the post of Shuofang Jiedushi, at this time he was only 35 years old.
In 742, Wang Zhongsi also served as the governor of Lingzhou, and fought with the Nu tribe of the Xi clan at the Sanggan River, winning three battles and three victories. At that time, there was civil unrest in the Turks, Wang Zhongsi led an army to deter, and the Turkic Usumish Khan requested surrender in order to avoid a major war. But the Turkic khans did not really surrender, and they refused to come over. Wang Zhongsi then used a counter-plot to provoke The three tribes of Simi, Gelulu and Hui to betray the Turks and attack the Turkic Khans, who were beaten to the point of abandoning their armor.
Wang Zhongsi seized the opportunity to send troops, captured the right army of the Turkic Khan, and many Turkic tribes surrendered. The following year, Wang Zhongsi defeated the Turks and the Xi. Since then, Wang Zhongsi's name has completely become a golden signboard, and the Border Hu people are afraid of it.
After that, Wang Zhongsi concurrently served as an envoy to Hedong Jiedu, served as the Taishou of Xiping County, participated in the military of Wuwei County, and served as an envoy of Hexi and Longyou Jiedushi. He also acted as the envoy of Shuofang and Hedong Jiedushi. By its peak, Wang Zhongsi was wearing four general seals and controlling the wanli frontier, with a force of about 73,000 troops in Hexi, about 75,000 in Longyou, about 64,000 in Shuofang, and about 55,000 in Hedong.
In other words, Wang Zhongsi controlled as many as 200,000 troops, almost half of all the military forces of the Tang Dynasty. Ge Shuhan, Li Guangbi and other generals were not spared his favor, and Ge Shuhan was able to achieve later achievements, but also thanks to Wang Zhongsi's promotion and bole's grace. Since the founding of the Tang Dynasty, no one has been able to have such power.
But for An Lushan, Wang Zhongsi was a thorn in his heart. In one day, An Lushan could not resist, and once he raised an army, he was definitely not the opponent of Wang Zhongsi, a famous general in hundred battles.
Moreover, Wang Zhongsi also repeatedly told Xuanzong that An Lushan had the intention of rebellion, but Xuanzong did not listen. Therefore, for the sake of his own great cause of rebellion, he must get Wang Zhongsi down. But he alone was far from being able to do it, so he found a person to be his helper, and this person was Li Linfu, the current prime minister.
Li Linfu and Wang Zhongsi were also suspicious and wanted to bring him down. Once, when Tang Xuanzong wanted to attack tubo's stone fortress city, he asked Wang Zhongsi for his opinion. Wang Zhongsi felt that the stone fort was dangerous and solid, and there were many Tubo soldiers, and it was not the best strategy to attack directly, so it was better to wait and see what happened.
Old Book of Tang: "Emperor Xuanzong fangshi shibao city, edict to attack the strategy, loyal to the si yun: "The stone fort is dangerous, and the Tubo country defends it." If the soldiers of Ruotun are strong, tens of thousands of people will die, and then things will be achieved. The subject is afraid that what he has gained is not as good as what he has lost, so please suspend the soldiers and horses, and watch the provocation and take it, and the one who calculates it is superior. "Emperor Xuanzong was unhappy. Li Linfu was particularly jealous of his loyalty and begged for his passing. ”
Tang Xuanzong was not happy because of this. I guess Xuanzong must have thought at this time, Lao Tzu raised you so big, and now you have learned to contradict me? At this moment, Li Linfu also seized the opportunity.
Soon, Dong Yanguang offered to attack Shibao City, and Tang Xuanzong agreed to Dong Yanguang's plan, so that Wang Zhongsi would take over. However, Dong Yanguang's plan had loopholes, and Wang Zhongsi could only perfunctory him, in fact, he did not want his subordinates to die in vain. Wang Zhongsi's attitude was resented by Dong Yanguang, and Wang Zhongsi's subordinate Li Guangbi was very worried and persuaded Wang Zhongsi to take out money to apologize to Dong Yanguang, after all, beating the dog still depends on the owner, the owner of this dog is the current prime minister Li Linfu, offending him is no good.
Wang Zhongsi did not listen, and told him that I could not watch my subordinates die because of my official position, and it was a big deal to lose this general and not do it. Later, Dong Yanguang did not conquer Shibao City, fearing that Xuanzong would blame him, but instead slandered wang Zhongsi and said that wang Zhongsi was not saved in death and did not respond in time.
Li Linfu also instructed others to falsely accuse Wang Zhongsi of plotting to support Li Heng as crown prince. This can touch the emperor's reverse scales, throughout the ages, how many emperors can accept the border pass general and the prince hooked up? In this case, it is generally better to kill than to let go.
Emperor Xuanzong of Tang was furious and directly summoned Wang Zhongsi back to the capital and imprisoned him, almost sentencing him to death. Fortunately, at that time, the ministry replaced Wang Zhongsi as the envoy of longyou Jiedushi, and Tang Xuanzong greatly valued him, and Ge Shuhan himself had been blessed by Wang Zhongsi's cultivation, and cried out for him, requesting that all his official titles be used to atone for Wang Zhongsi's sins.
Tang Xuanzong was also a little moved, and at the same time did not want to hurt the hearts of these generals, so he demoted Wang Zhongsi to his post. The following year, Wang Zhongsi died suddenly and violently, at the age of forty-five. Some people say that they end up depressed, and some people say that they are persecuted.
After An Lushan went to a major enemy and killed Li Linfu and waited until Yang Guozhong came to power, An Lushan could be said to be relaxed, looking at the Tang Dynasty, no one was his opponent. So he raised an army against the Tang, and the Anshi Rebellion broke out.
On the other hand, if Wang Zhongsi was still there, An Lushan would not dare to rebel at all, and the An Shi Rebellion would not have happened. I don't know if xuanzong regretted demoting Wang Zhongsi to prison when he fled for his life in a hurry?
