Xingguo County is a place full of legends and a revolutionary base area full of red atmosphere. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, 80% of the population of Xingguo County chose to join the army. In this first county of martyrs, there are 23,179 martyrs who can know their names, and the long names of martyrs densely write the legend of the motherland's war of resistance, and a hundred generals have walked out of this place. The Xie Guoyi we are talking about this time is the old revolutionary who came out of Xingguo County in those years, and like tens of millions of other martyrs in Xingguo County, he built the Great Wall with his flesh and blood and made great efforts for us to win the final victory of the War of Resistance.
First, in order to follow the Long March of the Red Army, he did not hesitate to take the bullet with his bare hands
In 1930, Xie Guoyi joined the Red Army of Workers and Peasants. At that time, the Central Soviet Region was persecuted by the Kuomintang troops, and he followed the Red Army to carry out several anti-encirclement and suppression battles, and grew up rapidly in these five anti-encirclement and suppression battles.
In the face of the Kuomintang troops, the Red Army often hit stones with fewer and more, but they relied on tenacious willpower and effective combat strategies. Xie Guoyi fully demonstrated these two points in the five anti-encirclement and suppression battles, he was brave and good at fighting and never accepted defeat, in the fifth anti-encirclement and suppression battle, he led only a few people left in the company, but even so they also resolutely fought to the end.
In order to cover the retreat of other comrades, they often fought to the death with an enemy who was dozens of times larger than themselves, and Comrade Xie Guoyi was injured many times in the anti-encirclement and suppression battles, but he was always willing to serve as a forward force and fight tenaciously against the enemy at the beginning of the Long March of the Red Army. Under Xie Guoyi's extraordinary willpower, he survived the bloody battle again and again, and successfully covered the transfer of large troops.
When the Red Army began the Long March, Xie Guoyi's injuries were not yet complete, and the organization asked him to go home first to recuperate his wounds before participating in the battle. But Xie Guoyi was determined not to leave the troops, and in order to show his determination, he took out the remaining shrapnel from his body with his bare hands, and even if he was on crutches, he had to follow the long march of the troops.
Second, they paid a blood price for the birth of a new China
Speaking of the Pingxing Guandajie, everyone is very familiar with it, and this was the first big victory fought by the Eighth Route Army that year. After the Pingxing Guan's great victory, there was also a Chen Zhuang great victory that, although little known, still achieved brilliant results.
At that time, Xie Guoyi served as the deputy regimental commander of the Eighth Route Army, and the team he led had extraordinary combat ability, and repeatedly surprised and destroyed the enemy's strongholds. They fought bravely and were praised by the organization many times, and in the great victory of Chen Zhuang, Xie Guoyi led other comrades to risk inhaling poisonous gas at any time, covering their mouths and noses with only wet towels, rushing through the poison gas barrier, and killing Shuiyuan Yixiong on the spot. This was the first Japanese general to invade China that the Eighth Route Army had defeated since the battle, and this move greatly boosted morale. In one fell swoop, they annihilated all the brigades and regiments of the water source, and a total of more than 2,000 Japanese troops were annihilated by our army in the great victory of Chen Zhuang, and a large amount of military materials were captured, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent victory of the War of Resistance.
Xie Guoyi showed his skills in many battles, and in strict accordance with the instructions of the party organization, when the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression entered a white-hot stage, he relied on his own wisdom and courage to go deep into the battlefield behind the enemy's lines and sabotage the personnel, materials, and transportation support behind the enemy's rear. He flimsily, successfully fought against forces behind enemy lines many times under difficult circumstances, and survived tenaciously. It was precisely because there were many brave, tenacious, and uniquely intelligent warriors like Xie Guoyi who twisted into a rope and fought on the battlefield that we later had the birth of a new China.
In 1955, Xie Guoyi was awarded the rank of colonel at the conferment ceremony. He was then appointed former deputy commander of the Shanxi Provincial Military District, and was finally awarded the rank of major general at 57:00 in 1964, and he enjoyed his old age with this rank.

It is worth mentioning that Xie Guoyi's daughter Xie Bin also became a female general who did not allow her eyebrows to be raised under his training, and served as deputy director of the political department of the Shanxi Military Region. Although she was born in the era of peace, she also made a career of her own in the army with her own efforts, no less than her father, and at the age of 56, she was also awarded the rank of major general by the organization.
Xie Guoyi's son-in-law is also a communist fighter full of revolutionary colors, he also threw himself into the War of Resistance Against Japan in his youth, and then by his own efforts, he was appointed secretary of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee at the age of 58, making important contributions to the economic and social development of Shanxi Province.
The cultural relics and monuments of Xingguo County still seem to exude their revolutionary atmosphere, and the road to rejuvenation in the past is now very bumpy in retrospect, but no matter how difficult it is, the old revolutionaries have come down little by little. There are countless fighters like Xie Guoyi who have struggled for the cause of communism all their lives, and while we remember them, we should inherit the spiritual wealth they left behind.
Although the story of the Red Army is over, the spirit of the Red Army has been passed down from generation to generation.
