A few days ago, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China announced the "List of Excellent Projects for the 2021 National Art Museum Collection Exhibition Season".
According to the list, 10 exhibitions from a total of 10 art museums across the country were selected.
Among them, the Guangdong Museum of Art in Guangdong, the He Xiangning Art Museum in Shenzhen and the Jiangmen Art Museum were listed with the exhibitions "Amusement to the West: A Study of Guan Liang's Style History", "Flowing Water and Mountains Writing New Maps - He Xiangning and the Beijing Painting Circle in the New China Period", and "The Era of Blowout - Chinese Overseas Chinese Capital (Jiangmen) 1869-2019 Overseas Chinese Art History Documentary Exhibition".
The number of entries is tied for the first place with the Beijing region.

"Entertaining Things: Guan Liang's Style History Research" exhibits more than 200 pieces from the collection of the Guangdong Museum of Art and a number of institutions and private collectors, using "image evidence history" as a research method.
In-depth case studies with Guan Liang as the core, the works, articles, historical documents, photos and other materials of Guan Liang and his friends are used to connect the memorabilia of the entire exhibition, and thus form the historical context of Guan Liang's images.
"Flowing Water and Mountains Writing New Pictures: He Xiangning and the Beijing Painting Circle in the New China Period" exhibits about 100 fine works and historical documents by artists including He Xiangning, Ye Gongqi, Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong and so on.
The exhibition specially sorts out the "He Xiangning and Beijing Painting Circle Travel Map", and clarifies the relationship between He Xiangning and the Beijing painting circles to the audience in an intuitive chart way, so that the audience can understand the context of relevant art history while watching the exhibition works.
"The Age of Blowout - The Overseas Chinese Capital of China (Jiangmen) 1869-2019 Overseas Chinese Art History Documentary Exhibition" sorts out nearly 100 modern overseas Chinese and Chinese artists from Wuyi, Jiangmen.
It further reflects the important position and role of overseas Chinese and Chinese art in Modern and Contemporary Chinese Art, displays and publicizes the historical status of Jiangmen art culture in China's modern and contemporary culture, and provides academic support for Jiangmen to build a "hometown of art".
From individual artists to groups, the Guangdong Regional Art Museum is good at basing itself on its own collections, selecting fine art works that can reflect the development of national society for review and sorting, trying to observe the social development of different eras and different regions from the appreciation and research of fine art works.
In the "2021 National Art Museum Collection Exhibition Season Activity Catalog" released last year, a total of 30 projects were selected for art museums at all levels in the country, of which 7 projects were selected by the Guangdong Regional Art Museum, ranking first in the country.
