Paul sets statistical standards for scoring and passing that the NBA hasn't achieved in 75 years.
Earlier this week, Suns guard Chris Paul was named one of the greatest 75 players in NBA history, becoming the only player in the league to reach an impressive double milestone on Friday.
Against the Los Angeles Lakers, Paul scored 20,000 points and 10,000 assists on free throws in the second quarter. The 11-time All-Star player ranks fifth in assists and is also the 47th player to reach the 20,000-point stage.
Prior to Paul, Oscar Robertson, also a member of the 75th Anniversary Team, was the closest player to break through the 20,000/10,000 mark, ultimately falling short with 9,887 assists. Another 75th Anniversary Winner, John Stockton, also finished second with 19,711 points.
Named to the all-league second team last season, Paul just finished the Finals at the Suns, a team he helped revitalize after a 10-year playoff drought. The 36-year-old reportedly re-signed a four-year, $120 million contract with Phoenix this offseason, though the latter half of the contract was reportedly not fully guaranteed.
