According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, people's needs are also hierarchical, and some needs will not develop a higher level of needs if they are not met.
If ordered according to the hierarchy of needs, physiological needs are at the lowest level (material security such as food, clothing, housing, etc.), followed by security needs (such as job security), and then social needs (friendship, love, etc.), and the last layer belongs to the spiritual category, which is respect and self-actualization.
Compared with the just need to eat and drink, flowers have social attributes, which is considered to be "social needs".
Nowadays, the economy is cold, many people have wages cuts, and some jobs have not yet landed, which means that the physiological needs have not been guaranteed, and naturally it is impossible to pursue the needs of the upper level.
A bouquet of roses is hundreds, bought back and put on a day or two and thrown away, why not replace it with something more valuable? Or, even if it is a good meal, after all, it is your own that you eat in your stomach.
This may be one of the reasons why Valentine's Day flower sales are cold.
Fortunately, after Valentine's Day this year, it is the Lantern Festival. When I was on my way home after work, I saw the "Stone Mill Lantern" at the intersection selling well.
After all, no matter how difficult it is, people still have to eat and drink.
