The one-hour conference unveiled a number of new products, including the new iPhone SE, iPad Air, and Mac Studio workstation master machine with the new M1 Ultra chip.
As an "affordable" product in the iPhone camp, the iPhone SE is not a resident model, and in the past four years, the iPhone SE has only released two new models. However, the upgrade from 4G to 5G has given the iPhone SE3 more attention at this conference.
There is no doubt that this Apple"affordable" mobile phone with a price of 3499 yuan will definitely make the smartphone market with a price of more than 3,000 yuan more volume.
iPhone: The iPhone SE has risen in price, 13 "green"
Different from the previously exposed purple, at the press conference on the 9th, Apple brought a more "spring" color - green iPhone 13 and Alpine green / alpine green / green iPhone 13 Pro.
In terms of price, the iPhone 13 Pro starts at 7999 yuan, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max starts at 8999 yuan.
As the product with the highest demand for this release, the iPhone SE3 is also the most suspenseful product at this conference.
In order to distinguish the product positioning of the iPhone SE3 and the iPhone 13 mini, this product still follows the previous overall design, equipped with a 4.7-inch screen, Touch ID, single camera and other elements.
The iPhone SE3 supports 5G and is available in three ways: midnight color, starlight and red. At the same time, it is equipped with the same front and rear glass of the iPhone 13, which is more resistant to drops, and IP67 is dustproof and waterproof. Rear 12MP single camera, supporting photographic style and deep integration.
However, the iPhone SE3 is all-round in terms of performance improvement, equipped with A15, which brings faster computing power and better graphics processing power to the phone. Compared with the previous generation of iPhone SE2, the iPhone SE3 is 1.2 times faster in graphics processing.
In addition, Apple also optimized the endurance of the whole machine, "this generation of SE compared to the previous generation in the video playback time increased by up to 2 hours." ”
In terms of price, the new generation of iPhone SE is priced from $429 and the Bank of China is starting from 3499 yuan. The previous generation of iPhone SE is priced at 3299 yuan.
Before the conference, Neil Shah, an analyst at Counterpoint Research, had predicted that Apple was likely to raise the price of the iPhone SE and pass on some of the cost pressures brought about by the global supply problem.
According to IDC, a third-party market research firm, the United States, Japan and Western Europe have been the largest markets for iPhone SE sales in recent years.
iPad Air: No price increase
The iPad Air series is a year and a half away from the previous generation update.
Like the iPhone SE, on the new iPad Air, Apple chose to continue the previous overall design, with no change in appearance, retaining the 10.9-inch screen and the touch ID power button on the side.
The most critical change in the new iPad Air is to upgrade the A14 bionic chip equipped with the previous generation to the same M1 chip of the new iPad Pro series. According to official data, after the A14 bionic chip was upgraded to the M1 chip, the CPU performance of the new iPad Air increased by 60% and the GPU performance doubled.
In addition, the new iPad Air has also made some improvements in details, such as: the front camera has been upgraded from the previous generation's 7 million pixels to 12 million pixels, supporting character centering; also supporting 5G functions; USB-C interface transmission speed of up to 10Gbps, which is 2 times that of the previous generation.
The new iPad Air continues the features of the previous generation, in addition to supporting the second generation apple Pencil, it also supports a magic control keyboard and a keyboard-style smart double-sided clip.
In terms of storage, the new iPad Air is available in 64GB and 256GB versions, with Wi-Fi and 5G versions available. Available in blue, space grey, starlight, purple and pink.
In terms of price. The new iPad Air starts at $4,399, while the previous-generation iPad Air starts at $4,799. It went on sale on March 18.
M1 Ultra: Integrates two M1 Maxes
In addition to the iPhone and iPad, the M1 Ultra is the "high-energy" theme of the conference.
Before introducing the M1 Ultra, Apple first raised a question: it is very common to increase the core area of the chip is to directly use two chips, but this increases the power consumption, the transmission rate is slower, and it will also increase the burden on developers. And how does Apple do it?
The answer lies in last year's M1 Max, which provides connectivity for chips, and the two M1 Max can be connected together by Apple's innovative and customized multi-grain architecture to form the oversized M1 Ultra.
So far, Apple's M1 series chips have four specifications: M1 is mainly used for high-end iPad products and entry-level MacBook products, M1 Pro and M1 Max focus on the high-load productivity scenarios faced by MacBook Pro, and M1 Ultra is used for top productivity tools.
In terms of core data, the M1 Ultra adopts a 5nm process process, adopts a breakthrough grain-to-die technology, integrates 114 billion transistors internally, supports up to 128GB of unified memory, and has a bandwidth of up to 800GB/s. The polysilicon architecture UltraFusion enables grain density up to 2 times that of existing technologies and transmission speeds of up to 2.5TB/s for low latency, ultra-high bandwidth and high energy efficiency.
According to Apple's official data, the M1 Ultra supports up to 22 trillion operations per second, while supporting up to 5 displays to expand or play up to 18 8K ProRes video streams at the same time. Primarily used in Mac desktops, the pace of replacing Intel continues to accelerate.
With the official debut of the M1 Ultra, Apple also launched a new Mac computer product Mac Studio, which is slightly larger than the Mac mini, with a height of 3.7 inches, a width of 7.7 inches and a long body size. Available in M1 Max and M1 Ultra versions.
In Mac Studio, the M1 Ultra's CPU performance is 90% better than the 16-core Intel Xeon processor and 60% higher than the 32-core Xeon.
Compared to the fastest iMac, the M1 Ultra edition of Mac Studio has a maximum performance increase of 3.4 times. Even compared to the top Mac Pro, the performance improvement has reached 80%.
If the M1 Ultra version of Mac Studio does not count the software cost, the top version is priced at about 60,000 yuan, less than one-sixth of the Mac Pro.
Before the launch, Apple's stock price rose rapidly, rising about 2.25% at one point, but after the conference began, the stock price quickly turned down, and by the close, Apple's stock price fell by 1.17%.
