In February, the domestic bus market pattern ushered in new changes.
The first commercial vehicle network recently learned that according to the data of the China Automobile Association (the caliber of the number of invoices issued by enterprises, the caliber of non-terminal sales, the same below), in February 2022, the mainland bus market (including non-complete vehicles) sold 23,300 vehicles, down 24% month-on-month, down 4% year-on-year, and sales both declined. Although the bus market has declined, due to the current bus market situation affected by multiple factors, and there is a Spring Festival holiday in February, the companies have completed four weeks of sales in three weeks, and the year-on-year sales decline has narrowed from 16% in January to single digits, and the market recovery momentum can be expected.
So, what are the changes in the large bus sales market in February 2022?
Large customer sales increased by 26% year-on-year, and the market gradually "picked up"
In February, the sales volume of large buses was 1888 units, an increase of 26% year-on-year, and it was in the "two consecutive increases" trend in the bus segments this year and the highest growth rate, occupying 8.1% of the sales volume of the entire bus market in February.
Looking at the sales volume and growth trend of large buses in February in the past five years, it can be seen that in the past five years, the sales market of large buses in February has shown a trend of "increase-decrease-decrease-increase-increase", and 2546 vehicles in February 2018 is the best performance month in the past five years. In 2019 and 2022, the large passenger market for two consecutive years showed a double-digit downward trend, and in February 2021, the large passenger market began to "pick up", an increase of 100%, and in February this year, although there was no "surge", it was also nearly 400 more than the sales volume of 1497 vehicles in February last year.
February 2022 large bus market sales table (unit: unit)
As we can see from the above table, in terms of sales, the large bus market in February increased by 26% year-on-year, more than double the year-on-year increase of January this year (an increase of 10%). Specific to the top 10 sales companies in February, in addition to the steady year-on-year increase of CRRC Electric and Chery Automobile, 7 of the remaining 8 companies increased and fell. Among them, Foton Motor's year-on-year growth rate in February reached a staggering 4150%, sales increased by more than 40 times compared with last year, and BYD also achieved a year-on-year increase of 341% in February, the only two companies in February this year to achieve a significant year-on-year growth. Zhongtong Bus and Xiamen Golden Dragon also rose significantly year-on-year in February last year, with an increase of more than 60%. Among the remaining companies in the top ten in terms of sales volume, Yutong Bus, Yaxing Bus and Suzhou Golden Dragon increased relatively steadily year-on-year; Xiamen Golden Travel showed negative year-on-year growth, with sales down 42%.
From the perspective of cumulative sales, from January to February this year, the cumulative sales of the large passenger market were 45.9 million vehicles, an increase of 16% year-on-year. Specific to the top ten sales companies, 7 increases and 2 declines, among the companies that achieved growth, Foton Automobile performed particularly well, with a cumulative increase of 2458%, an increase of nearly 25 times; among the remaining five companies with positive cumulative growth, CRRC Electric and BYD achieved triple-digit growth, 161% and 150% respectively; Yaxing Bus and CRRC Electric increased by 58% and 28% respectively; among the companies that suffered decline, the largest decline was 45%.
From the perspective of sales ranking, the sales ranking of various companies in February this year is still relatively large. Specifically, compared with January this year, Yutong Bus and Foton Automobile remained unchanged and still ranked in the top two in the large passenger market; the sales of Zhongtong Bus and Xiamen Golden Dragon rose to the third and fourth places in February; BYD rose from the eighth place in January to the sixth place; Chery Automobile and Xiamen Golden Travel ranked eighth and ninth respectively.
Yutong's share exceeds a quarter, and the share of the top five companies is nearly 70%.
From the perspective of market share, the total share of the top 10 companies in February exceeded 95%, and the total share of the top five companies reached 67.58%, and the top five companies alone have taken away nearly 70% of the share of the large bus market. Among them, Yutong Bus, which still ranks first in sales, has reached 25.26% of the market share of large buses in February, and one has taken a quarter of the market share.
In February this year, there were still no companies with sales exceeding 1,000 in the large bus market, and eight of the top 10 companies had sales exceeding 100, and three companies had a market share of more than 10%.
It can be said that this year, affected by the repeated impact of the new crown epidemic, even if it catches up with the Spring Festival holiday in February, the number of people traveling in different places and returning to their hometowns for the New Year is still greatly reduced, which also has a considerable impact on the tourist passenger transport market, directly affecting the sales of large bus manufacturers in February.
Under the situation of gradual "recovery" of the market, will the large bus market usher in "three consecutive rises" in March? Let's wait and see!
