Square Enix has officially announced Kingdom Hearts 4.
In the last video released as part of the series' 20th anniversary celebrations, it is known as a synthesis of all trailers disclosed during the event. We are surprised to see Sora and the saying, "The heart dwells in the soul, and the soul is guided by fate to its rightful place."
Square Enix explains: "Sora returns triumphantly, appearing in the latest form at the beginning of an epic new storyline called 'The Lost Masters' Road,' starting with Sora's boss battle with a giant enemy, and players will be introduced to Quadratum, a large, expansive city set in a gorgeous, realistic world unlike any previous title in the Kingdom Hearts series. Fans will be thrilled to see the return of Sora's well-known companions, in addition, Strelitzia's first appearance, a mysterious new character who will appear in front of Sora in this strange new environment".
There's no exact word about the game's release date, nor on which platforms Kingdom Hearts 4 will be released, but the development seems advanced enough to build on the Unreal Engine 5, which not only provides players with cinematic footage, but also adds multiple gameplay to the streets of modern cityscapes.
At the end of the trailer, the series' good partners Donald Duck and Goofy also appear.
We also learned about Kingdom Hearts: Missing Links, a mobile game that will enter closed beta later this year. Square Enix said it would "allow players to embark on an adventure from the Realm of Scala ad Caelum and enter the real world" and "engage in exhilarating battles with the Heartless to discover a new, original story."
