[Dahe News, Dahe Cai Cube] (Reporter Chen Wei, Intern, Han Xinchen, Wen, Wang Linlin, edited) Huawei's consumer business was officially renamed Huawei terminal business on April 20.
At the Huawei terminal commercial office new product launch conference in the afternoon, Yu Chengdong, managing director of Huawei, CEO of terminal business, and CEO of smart car solution BU, said that after the name change, Huawei's terminal business will be divided into two modules: consumer products and commercial products, consumer products will continue to focus on serving mass consumers, and commercial products will focus on serving government and enterprise customers.
Combined with the previously released 2021 financial report data, this name change is more like Huawei's repositioning of the future development of the previous "consumer business".
On March 28, when Huawei released its 2021 annual report, it revealed that last year's company's revenue fell by 28.6% year-on-year to 636.8 billion yuan. The main reason for the decline in revenue was the decline in revenue from its consumer business. In 2021, Huawei's consumer business revenue was 243.431 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 49.6%, and the proportion of revenue fell to 38.2%, falling back to the second largest source of income, and the last time this structure accounted for 2017.
For the decline in consumer business, Huawei said the root cause lies in the chip. At that time, Huawei's rotating chairman Guo Ping said that Huawei's problems cannot be solved by reducing food and clothing, "because mobile phone chips need to have strong computing power, low power consumption and small size requirements, and we still have difficulties in obtaining it." ”
From the consumer business based on personal mobile phones to Huawei terminals, it can be seen that Huawei is trying to solve the dilemma caused by chips.
The commercial sector is one of the key focuses of Huawei's terminal business, and its product line mainly focuses on the needs of the government and large enterprises. Huawei Terminal specially released its commercial product family this time, including 7 series of products such as notebooks, desktops, monitors, tablets, smart screens, wearables, and printers, and consciously avoided mobile phone products that rely on chips.
Yu Chengdong said at the press conference: "In the past decade, we have been creating the ultimate product experience for consumers, which has been unanimously recognized by the market. In the future, Huawei will bring high-quality products from consumer products to the commercial field, and create a better product experience for commercial customers based on the three DNA of Huawei's terminal commercial product quality, wisdom, and reliability. ”
In addition to being confident in the quality of its own hardware products, the advantages of Huawei's terminal business are based on device collaboration, ecosystem integration, cloud service capabilities, and data security.
Huawei's terminal business can tailor solutions for governments and enterprises, provide open capabilities and system customization services, and create one-stop solutions. Through multi-device collaborative work, seamless data circulation, and mobile apps for computers, cross-ecological application experience is realized to meet the needs of scenarios in various industries, such as daily/travel office of government and enterprises, paperless conference system, teaching management of school computer classrooms, and transformation of energy miners' safe work watches.
It can meet the multi-dimensional management needs of the government and various enterprises for terminal equipment through 17 standard customization capabilities and 9 open capabilities, and can customize the brand logo, settings, desktop, and also open peripheral capabilities, SDKs, and industry system docking capabilities to meet the customized needs of commercial customers' software and hardware customization.
At the end cloud service level, Huawei not only brings smart office experience by presetting applications such as application markets, cloud spaces, browsers, smart assistants, and smart search, but also creates HEM solutions for enterprises based on the opening of HMS Core Kits' basic capabilities, realizing end-to-end smart device control and all-scenario access and management of various smart devices.
In order to achieve its comparative advantage in the industry, Huawei continues to increase investment in research and development. In 2021, Huawei applied for 6,952 patents, ranking first in the ranking of international patent applicants in 2017-2021 for five consecutive years, and 1.8 times the number of applications in 2021.
Huawei positions the commercial office field as a "strategic long-term investment" field, which means that Huawei will bring innovation and smart experience in the consumer field to the commercial field, providing better design and technology, smarter experience, more reliable quality and service for commercial customers. The transformation from the individual side to the enterprise side is not only the need of the Internet of Everything, but also the return of Huawei's business.
