Liverpool set an ambitious price tag for Nat Phillips and Nico Williams
Liverpool's summer will be much busier than last year's, with trades and contract extensions set to go hand in hand, including determining the future of Nat Phillips and Nico Williams.
Last summer, the two were thought to be permanently transferred, but neither made them a candidate for Jurgen Klopp.
The January window paved the way for their respective loan deals, with Phillips joining Bournemouth while Williams travelled to Fulham.
The experience was invaluable for both sides as they each helped the team secure promotions in the Premier League, which left the two hungry for a more formal senior football.
At Liverpool, with at least four centre-backs ahead of Phillips, Trent Alexander Arnold is a steady right-back.
There is no doubt that their loan experience will catch the attention of suitors and the club hopes this will be reflected in their offer.
But they appear to have set an ambitious fee for the two men, with athlete James Pierce reporting that Liverpool will demand £15m from Phillips for a price similar to Williams' price.
What this sentence means is that the Red Army is "not in a hurry to sell, ready to wait until later in the window" and is unwilling to simply negotiate at unwanted costs.
Phillips did stay at Anfield last summer because Liverpool's requirements weren't met and you hope that will change with the consideration of the defender's career ambitions.
Phillips told the Echo: "I feel like I'm perfectly capable of playing Premier League football, every player wants to play in the Premier League." It is my desire to play football regularly in the Premier League. ”
The new sporting director Julian Ward has recouped nearly £30 million in revenue for the two, which will be a huge success as both are at the top of the club's rankings.
