Lecture Introduction:
The Chinese nation has a long historical tradition, for the Palace Museum, which guards the Chinese national treasure and guards the roots of Chinese culture, the southward relocation of the cultural relics of the Palace Museum is a page that is always worth recalling and recalling in the history of the Palace Museum and even Chinese culture, accumulating cultural significance and spiritual strength of eternal significance. About the Speaker:
Zheng Xinmiao, a native of Chengcheng County, Shaanxi Province, born in October 1947, is currently the president of the Palace Museum's Forbidden City Research Institute, the president of the Chinese Poetry Society, and the honorary director of the Forbidden City Research Center of Zhejiang University and the Forbidden City and Ming and Qing Court Research Center of Nankai University. He once served as the head of the cultural group of the Central Policy Research Office, the vice governor of Qinghai Province, the deputy director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the vice minister of culture, the president of the Palace Museum, the member of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the deputy director of the Literature, History and Study Committee of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, as well as the president and honorary president of the Chinese Forbidden City Society, the president and honorary president of the China Lu Xun Research Society. Over the years, he has been engaged in policy science research, cultural theory research, and Lu Xun Thought research; since 2000, he has focused on cultural relics and museum research. In 2003, he initiated the "Forbidden City Studies". His published works mainly include "From the Red Chamber to the Forbidden City - Zheng Xinmiao's Collected Writings", "Introduction to the Forbidden City", "The Forbidden City and the Forbidden City", "Tianfu Yongzang - An Overview of the Cultural Relics Collection of the Palace Museum on Both Sides of the Strait", "Lu Xun and Religious Culture", "New Theory of Socialist Culture", "Zheng Xinmiao's Poetry Manuscripts", etc.
As early as the establishment of the Palace Museum in the Republic of China period, Peking University and the Palace Museum maintained close contact and good cooperation in academic talents, cultural relics collation, exhibition and publication, etc., and forged a deep friendship in the process of promoting the research of modern Chinese museums and cultural relics. On October 20, 2019, Peking University signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Palace Museum and the Dunhuang Research Institute to carry out in-depth cultural relics protection, research and talent training. In this context, the Institute of Culture and Research of Peking University and the Institute of the Forbidden City have taken on a greater mission and strived to open a new page in the cooperation and development of Peking University and the Palace Museum, two important academic institutions in China. According to the planning of the two courts, we will carry out all-round and long-term academic exchanges and cooperation through the exchange of scholars to hold lectures, organize academic dialogues, set up courses, hold special workshops, and cooperate in planning academic exhibitions.
Since mid-November, Li Kaiyuan, a famous expert in qin and Han history, and Chen Suzhen, a professor at the Center for Ancient Chinese History of Peking University, have been invited to the Forbidden City Research Institute to give lectures, kicking off the prelude to the "Series of Academic Lectures of Peking University". Yang Nianqun is a professor at the Institute of Qing History, Chinese Min University, and a Jiang Scholar Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education. Xing Zhou is a professor at the Faculty of International Exchange studies at Aichi University, a professor at the Graduate School of Graduate School, the director of the International Center for The Study of Chinese Studies (ICCS), and a professor at the Institute of Sociology and Anthropology at Peking University. His major publications include Prehistory and Archaeology (1992), New Ethnology (1992), Ethnic Politics (1993), Realm and Symbolism: Bridges and Folklore (1998), The Logic of Local Life: Folklore Research from an Anthropological Perspective (2011), The Meaning of Local Common Sense: Folklore Research in an Anthropological Perspective (2016), and has edited a variety of academic books.
Gao Bingzhong is a professor in the Department of Sociology of Peking University and a doctoral supervisor. His major monographs include "Folk Culture and Folk Life", "Exploration of Social Development and Cultural Research in China", "Living in Cultural Space" and so on.
Yang Na, Ph.D. in Sociology, Chief Editor of the Central Media Unit, Part-time Researcher of the Research Center for Sociological Theory and Methods of Chinese Min University, Visiting Lecturer of the School of Continuing Education, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and Council Member of the China Youth New Media Association. He is the author of the book "The Return of Hanfu" and participated in the compilation of three middle school curriculum books, "Huaxia Youyi", "Huaxia Etiquette" and "Huaxia Festivals". He has successively served as the head of the British Hanfu Society and the Beijing Hanfu Association.
