Zhou Mian eliminated interference, did not fear the magnates, and did not need the "press release" given to him by Yan Shifan. After conducting a fair investigation, he played the matter to the Jiajing Emperor as it was. This song is included in the "Biography of Zhou Mian in the History of Ming Dynasty", and the biography of Zhou Mian has a total of 877 words (including punctuation marks), and this song accounted for 569 words, which shows its importance.

In the song, Zhou Mian said that when he investigated the matter, he found many doubts: most of Yan Shifan's sons were young and did not have Yan Zhizhong's son; if Yan Zhizhong was a martial artist, why didn't the official government of his origin recommend the documents to select him? Can the 16-year-old Yan Xiaozhong take on the position of a major general on the battlefield? If Yan Yongzhong really beheaded the seventh rank, why didn't the other generals report the battle merits of beheading the enemy's first rank, and was it only Yan Song's grandson in the army who was brave and good at war? Moreover, since the founding of the Ming Dynasty, there has never been an example of the descendants of the first assistant joining the army.

Zhou Mian clearly pointed out in the song that "Yan Allegiance" was a forged name, and military merit was also a lie. He said even more passionately: "If the subject does not speak, how can Your Majesty know of his adultery?" "The duties of the courtiers are at stake, and the righteousness does not dare to fall, so that the world knows that the imperial court has unsavory merits and laws that cannot be violated." Although the subject has sinned, he has nothing to hate in death! ”

Zhou Mian's letter shocked the government and the public, and Yan Song's father and son were terrified of the various flaws in the Yan loyalty incident listed by Zhou Mian and were frightened and rushed to find someone to fill the loopholes.

Nevertheless, the Jiajing Emperor not only did not hold Yan Song's father and son responsible, but instead believed that Zhou Mian was deliberately retaliating and framing Yan Song, and ordered him to be sentenced to the punishment of a court staff, and arrested and imprisoned, severely tortured, and reduced to a commoner.

In the first year of Longqing (1567), the Jiajing Emperor died, and the crown prince Zhu Zaituo took the throne as the Longqing Emperor. Emperor Longqing rehabilitated Zhou Mian and used him as a servant of Shaoqing. However, at that time, Zhou Mian's mother had just died, and Zhou Mian wanted to mourn for her mother, and she was plagued by illness and did not go to work. Soon after, Zhou Mian died.

After Zhou Mian's death, he was buried near the Ningguo Temple in the north of Zizhong City, adjacent to the tomb of Wang Bao, a famous scholar of the Western Han Dynasty. On the afternoon of November 17, 2015, when I was visiting The Ningguo Temple in Zizhong, I saw the brief introduction of the Ningguo Temple written by the Zizhong County Cultural Relics Management Office on December 12, 2009, saying that a number of ancient tombs such as the tomb of Wang Bao and the tomb of Zhou Mian were destroyed in the 1950s.

At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Wu Zhiying, a famous Confucian and famous mountain man in Shu, after seeing the tomb of Zhou Mian, once wrote the "Tomb of The Ming Supervision Of Yushi Zhou Mian": "In the future, who can succeed Mr. Li, every time he thinks about the Imperial History Bullet Chapter, Lang Lang bumps, rumors are lost imitation, he remembers his dreams and crowns, and today he is drunk and barren, and he is fortunate to return to the body of who; he may not be the soul of the tomb, but he may leave this empty mountain hua table, lush and lush, and when he is old, he will recommend sweet incense, and the descendants of the descendants will have zero lambs and leeks, and in the future they will obey Su Lian, and how dare they forget the style of loyalty and filial piety." ”

After Zhou Mian was relegated to civilian status for truthfully investigating yan's loyalty and risking merit, he spent the rest of his life in his hometown for nearly 20 years. He was not depressed by the setbacks in his career, but actively devoted himself to the education cause in his hometown. He set up a museum to give lectures at Yongqing Temple on Chonglong Mountain and Longshan Temple in Shifeng Mountain, which made the local "world style great progress, and the voice of reading never stopped."

In the territory of Zizhong, there were many relics related to the Zhou Crown, but now there are very few left.

Zhou Mian's calligraphy and poetry are quite accomplished. In the Yuexian Cave in Qiuxi Town, Zizhong County, there is a stone carved poem of Zhou Mian's "YouYuexian Cave": "Cliff flowers and smoke locks, cloud trees are sealed with stone cellars." The spring gushed like a silver Vein, and the guest traveled to the Guanghan Palace. ”

The Laihe Pavilion, which was built in the Song Dynasty in Yongqing Temple, was rebuilt in the twenty-second year of Jiajing (1543), and a stele was inscribed "Reconstruction of laihe pavilion", and the words on the stele were written by Zhou Mian.

In the third year of the Wanli Dynasty (1575), in order to commemorate the iron-faced imperial history Zhou Mian, the people of Zizhong built a stone arch at the Donggao Temple in Donggao Mountain outside the xiaodongmen of the county seat, and the then Zi County (Hongwu four years, Zi Prefecture was demoted to a county, renamed Zi County, subordinate to Chengdu Prefecture, Qing Yongzheng only upgraded Zi County to Zi Prefecture Directly Subordinate Prefecture) Zhi County Lu Ling inscription on the square.

According to the "Zizhou Zhili Zhou Zhizhi" and "Zizhong County Continued To Repair Zizhou Zhi", Donggao Temple was founded in the early years of the Ming Dynasty, also known as the "Jingjue Zen Forest", and was rebuilt during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. In the Republic of China, the whole temple was five in front of and behind, dozens of halls and monks' rooms, incense was in full bloom, and smoke was swirling. Until the 1980s, Donggao Temple still had some halls and monks' houses, and pilgrims and tourists often went to pay homage to incense or play.

Today, Donggao Temple is in ruins, and the mountain is full of rubble, bricks, and broken stone carvings. In the weeds, only this weathered and crumbling stone archway is left, which tells the glory of the past alone.

Exquisite carvings on the Stone Arch (file photo)

The outer side of the stone arch is engraved with "Qing Void Overview" in the middle, and the inside is engraved with "Meditation Forest". The handwriting of "Qing Xuan Yi Yi" is weathered so that only traces can be seen, and the handwriting of "Jing Jue Zen Forest" is relatively better. The hollow carvings on the square are dragon and phoenix Chengxiang, carp leaping dragon gate and exquisite flowers, etc., which are exquisitely carved, exquisite in craftsmanship and realistic in image.

In the eighth year of the Wanli Dynasty (1580), the Wanli Emperor issued an edict to build the Zhou Gong Ancestral Hall for Zhou Mian in the north of Zizhong County.

In addition to the "QingXuan" workshop, the county town of Dadong Street also built a "Kunwei Zhengqi" workshop for Zhou Mian (demolished in the 1950s), and the Zhou Yushi Hometown Square was built outside the north pass of the county town. Before the Zhongxiao Ancestral Hall in the Zi Chinese Temple was withdrawn, it enshrined the tablet of "Ming Yushi Zhou Crown". 【End】
