On the morning of September 16th, Songshan Lake Material Laboratory and Lakeside Garden Community staged a fun nature adventure, nearly 30 groups of parent-child families walked into nature, broadened the cognitive boundaries of biology in the interaction with animals and plants, and rethought the world of diverse symbiosis between humans and organisms.
A series of natural science popularization activities with the theme of "Smart South Lake Bay, Nature Gathering Talents" was hosted by the Party Committee of the Southern Area of Songshan Lake, aiming to serve the high-tech talents in the southern area, enhance the sense of happiness and belonging, and lead parent-child families to appreciate the style of the southern area and enjoy the home of the South Lake Bay.
Bug Detective - Look for insects around us
"Insects are very easy to overlook around us, but they are important for the protection of biodiversity and the ecological environment, and also play an important role in human development." The nature teacher explained. During the activity, parents and children learned about the basic knowledge of insects and the application of insect structure in biomimicry, and the live insects and carnivorous plants at the activity site also opened the children's eyes.
In the outdoor garden of the Matsuyama Lake Materials Laboratory, the nature instructor not only introduced the names of the various insects in the garden, but also explained the ecological relationship between insects and the natural environment: "The waterhole in the garden provides a large breeding ground for dragonflies; Vegetation such as Cuiluli planted on the roadside provides sufficient food sources for gray butterflies, snake-eyed butterflies, and Chongyang wood brocade moths. There are also a large number of cockroaches, crickets, and horses on the surface of the soil, which are decomposers of the surface layer of the soil, without them, it is difficult for fallen leaves to become decaying wood. ”
Finally, the parent-child family collects materials on the top of the back mountain in the laboratory and makes an insect house for insects and other animals around them. "The activity not only allowed the children to learn about many insects around them, but also learned to observe and discover carefully, which cultivated the children's curiosity and spirit of exploration." After the event, parents praised the event, saying that they and their children not only increased their knowledge, but also had fun.
Explore the "Dwarfs of the Plant Kingdom"
In the Songshan Lake Lakeside Garden Community, children are led by an ecology teacher to explore the "dwarfs of the plant kingdom" - moss.
The activity began with an outdoor nature game, followed by a lively atmosphere in which the children raised their hands to answer questions and interact with the teacher. Through the activities, the children not only learned how to understand bryophytes and their functions, but also learned about the threats faced by bryophytes and how to protect them. In the outdoor observation session, the children looked for moss, ferns, lichens, fungi and other plants in the community, clamped them into the observation box with small tweezers, and brought them back indoors for observation with stereo glasses.
At the end of the activity, the children learned to make micro-landscapes from moss, and the landscape shrunk between square inches gave the children endless imagination space, as if they had become "green elves" in the microscopic plant world.
Next, the "Smart Nanhuwan Nature Gathering Talents" natural science popularization activity will continue to carry out a series of natural activities such as bird watching and archipelago exploration according to the seasonal characteristics and ecological resources of the southern area, centered on the southern part of Huansongmushan Reservoir and taking Wei'a Mountain as the activity route.
