In celebration of the Lunar New Year, Vacheron Constantin presents a unique creation, the Les Cabinotiers Grisaille High Jewelry Dragon, which, for the first time, combines grayscale enamelling and jewel-setting techniques to create a majestic five-clawed "auspicious dragon" on the dial.
Part of the new 2023 Récits de Voyages collection, this watch is part of the Penthouse Artisans' new Récits de Voyages collection, which celebrates the rich and diverse arts and cultures of the world. The 18-carat white gold case is 40 mm in diameter and only 8.9 mm thick, with a bezel and lugs set with 146 baguette-cut brilliant-cut diamonds, and an inverted round-cut diamond on the crown.
The "auspicious dragon" in the center of the dial is made using grayscale enamel, which is first applied by an enameller to the base of the dial with a dark enamel layer, and then painted with layers of Limoges white glaze to draw the details of the dragon's eyes, teeth, scales and claws, which are shaped by repeated high-temperature firing. Unlike the traditional grey scale enamel, which is monochromatic in black, white and grey, Vacheron Constantin's enamellers have added an extra layer of green enamel to the dial, giving the dragon a more striking layer of light and vitality.
Powered by the Caliber 1120 automatic, ultra-thin calibre with a thickness of only 2.4 mm, a frequency of 19,800 vph, and a power reserve of 40 hours, the winding oscillating weight is specially skeletonized in the shape of a Maltese cross.
With a dark green alligator leather strap, the only work, the official price has not yet been announced.
