On this year's Qingming Festival, Nandu reporters learned from the Guangdong Coast Guard Bureau that the grave of the martyr Wang Xiaolong, a law enforcement officer of the Guangdong Coast Guard, was full of flowers, and Lin Qingping, a law enforcement officer who fought side by side with him, came to pay respects and visit again. At the urban workstation of the Shanwei Coast Guard Bureau, where he worked before his death, representatives of teachers and students paid homage to him in front of his statue and circulated the touching words in his diary. Until now, law enforcement officers will clean up Wang Xiaolong's bed and arrange the newly issued law enforcement uniforms, "No matter how big the wind and waves, he will guide the course." ”

Investigation of smuggling cases at sea Wang Xiaolong fell into the water and died

On this year's Qingming Festival, Lin Qingping, a law enforcement officer of the Shanwei Coast Police Bureau in Guangdong, came to the Wanshou Mountain Martyrs Memorial Park in Anhui Province, where flowers bloomed in front of Wang Xiaolong's tombstone. Lin Qingping gently wiped the name on the stele, stood up and took off his hat and saluted, with endless thoughts in his heart.

On April 10, 2023, under the widespread attention of all sectors of society, the martyr's urn covered with the national flag was buried in Wang Xiaolong's hometown of Fuyang. Since that life-and-death struggle, even on the calm blue sea, Lin Qingping's memories have not drifted away, returning to the night when the wind was raging.

In the early morning of March 24 of that year, the Shanwei Coast Guard Bureau investigated smuggling activities in the Shanwei Sea, and law enforcement officers Wang Xiaolong and Lin Qingping found that a modified super-horsepower speedboat equipped with six engines was leaning against a "fishing boat" to carry unidentified items.

"Don't move! We're the Chinese Coast Guard!" they shouted as they approached stealthily and leaned into the speedboat. However, the suspect still fled backwards along the side of the ship, Wang Xiaolong rushed over and tried to control it, but was strongly resisted by the suspect, and Lin Qingping immediately jumped to reinforce him.

At this time, a suspect ran to the bridge and pushed the engine lever violently, the front cabin of the speedboat was cocked, the boat shook violently, Wang Xiaolong, Lin Qingping and several suspects were thrown into the sea, and reinforcements from all parties who came one after another quickly put into the search and rescue.

On March 26 of that year, Wang Xiaolong's body was found in the waters near Magong Port in Shanwei. When he fell into the sea, he was unfortunately hit by the engine propeller of the smuggling boat, and Wang Xiaolong, who was only 27 years old, died heroically, and Lin Qingping was injured and his left lower leg was amputated. On April 25, the China Coast Guard held a ceremony in Guangzhou to posthumously record first-class merit for martyr Wang Xiaolong and first-class merit for law enforcement officer Lin Qingping. On July 16, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation decided to posthumously award the martyr Wang Xiaolong the May Fourth Medal of Chinese Youth.

"When the people need us, all we have to do is to give, only to give. These are the words that Wang Xiaolong wrote in his diary. That night, the sea breeze and waves crashed against the window, and on the rocking coast guard reconnaissance boat, he was still imagining the future before he died.

In July of that year, reporters from Nandu met Lin Qingping, who was injured and amputated, again in Shanwei. At this time, he was in good mental condition, wearing a prosthetic leg on his left calf, and was able to walk slowly on his own. The past period of time has been long and torturous for Lin Qingping. In his opinion, he is lucky, although he has had his leg amputated, he is still alive, and he can return to work after he is fully recovered and discharged from the hospital. "I often thought of Xiaolong in the hospital, and I didn't bring him back safely. Talking about the sacrificial colleagues, Lin Qingping still couldn't hide his grief and couldn't speak for a long time.

A month after the incident, Yuan Gengxin, the relevant person in charge of the Shanwei Coast Guard Bureau, told reporters from Nandu that the smuggling gang involved in the case is an organization with a mature organizational structure and strict anti-reconnaissance, and the coast guard law enforcement officers have carried out precise strikes against it, and more than 10 suspects involved in the case have been arrested. In early July of that year, Zhang Liang, chief of the Criminal Investigation Section of the Guangdong Coast Guard Bureau, who was investigating the case, told reporters in the southern capital that it had been ascertained that the case was involved in an organized and premeditated criminal gang that straddled Guangdong and Hong Kong, and that it usually roamed between the waters of Guangdong and Hong Kong, waiting for an opportunity to commit a crime at any time. The gang is tightly structured, with personnel who specialize in wind, sea sailing, and land transportation. After digging deeply, the special case team has arrested 37 suspects and seized smuggled frozen products worth more than 10 million yuan.

"It's my choice and I don't regret it"

Wang Xiaolong is the only son in the family, he has been working for a long time and traveling abroad, and during the New Year's holidays, his parents and hometown are the most important concerns he writes about in his diary.

In September 2015, he left home for the first time and joined the police in the northwest border. Two years of experience have strengthened his determination that this is the place where he wants to put down roots.

"Mom, I've gained a lot here, and I want to work for a few more years. His parents wanted him to come home, so he bravely confessed his heart and called his parents. At that time, he wrote in his diary, "My mother is worried, I understand her very well, and I don't want to disappoint her...... But I still want to be a little tired, so that I can exercise myself, it is my choice, I don't regret it. ”

After that, he was admitted to relevant colleges and universities in Hangzhou with excellent results, and when he graduated, he obeyed the organization's assignment to come to Haijiang in southern Guangdong and became a coast guard law enforcement officer of the Shanwei Coast Guard. In the past 8 years of work, he has participated in 36 urgent, difficult, dangerous and heavy tasks, 5 times regardless of safety and danger to catch the murderer and punish the evil, and won 8 times of commendation and commendation.

At the urban workstation of the Shanwei Coast Guard Bureau in Guangdong, there is a "Wang Xiaolong Martyr Honor Room", which treasures the diary he left before his death. There is also a statue of him in front of the Wall of Honor, with his left arm raised, looking at the sea, stepping on the waves under his feet, and permanently maintaining a charging posture. On this year's Qingming Festival, the representatives of teachers and students of Shanwei Experimental Primary School offered flowers, bowed and saluted in front of the statue.

"My mother is also a coast guard law enforcement officer, and I often hear her tell the story of Uncle Wang Xiaolong at home, and I want to learn from him to protect the sea of the motherland and become a person who can contribute to the country when I grow up!" said Wang Zekai, a second-grade student at Shanwei Experimental Primary School.

Cui Yuguo, a law enforcement officer of the Shanwei Coast Guard, studied and worked with Wang Xiaolong for 6 years. Many times, he felt that Xiaolong had not left, and still helped him clean up the bed, put the water glass back in its original place, and sorted out the newly issued law enforcement uniform for him.

In July 2022, Wang Xiaolong, who was the head of the service detachment of the Shanwei Coast Guard at the time, said when carrying out mission education to the law enforcement officers of the new coast guard team: "When you see criminals fleeing at sea, do you dare to chase them? When the situation is urgent, do you dare to be the first to jump into the gang? For these three questions, my answer is, I dare, I definitely dare!"

18,000 kilometers, which is the length of the mainland's mainland coastline, the duty and mission of the coast guard law enforcement officers. Every time he went out to sea on duty, he saw the lighthouse standing in the sea area of Magong, and Cui Yuguo knew that Xiaolong was fighting side by side.
