In order to allow Macao residents to share the joy of the completion of the fourth sea-crossing bridge, the Macao SAR Government organized the "Macau-Taipa Fourth Sea-crossing Bridge Naming Campaign" in December 2023, hoping to name the bridge through the collective wisdom of residents for the reference of the SAR Government. The call for names ended in mid-January 2024, with the selection committee selecting five reference names from more than 14,400 suggested names, and finally the SAR Government decided to officially name the fourth Macao-Taipa Bridge as the "Macao Bridge".

At the same time, the construction of the bridge continued to be in full swing. To ensure the smooth progress of the bridge deck hoisting operation, the Public Works Bureau (PWB) coordinated with the Marine and Water Bureau (MSB) to implement a total of 38 temporary closures of sea lanes from November 2022 to March 2024.

The Macao waterway is an important waterway for the Xijiang River to reach the sea, with an average of more than 200 ships of different types passing through it every day. In full coordination with the Marine and Water Bureau, the Public Welfare Bureau, the Customs and Excise Department of Macao and the Zhuhai Maritime Safety Bureau, and with the cooperation of the maritime industry, passenger shipping companies, fishermen, residents and tourists, the closure of many voyages over the past year has been successfully completed, contributing to the construction of the SAR and ensuring maritime safety. The project team also successfully completed the closing of the Macao HZMB on the evening of 12 March 2024.
With the smooth closure of the Macao Bridge, it marks that the project has fully moved from the main structural engineering to the ancillary structural engineering of the bridge.

The Macao BRIDGE project officially started on March 26, 2020, and during the implementation process, it was affected by multiple difficulties such as multiple rounds of epidemics, as well as adverse factors such as bad weather, complex geological conditions, and aviation navigation restrictions. The construction team will make every effort to complete all the work and ensure that the bridge will be completed and opened in 2024.
