In terms of sales, BYD is leading the way. In May, BYD sold 331,800 vehicles, up 38% year-on-year. From January to May this year, it sold 1,271,300 units, a year-on-year increase of 47%.

This was followed by GAC Aion, which delivered 40,073 units in May, up 60% month-on-month, but down 11% compared to May 2023. From January to May this year, its sales were 142,339 units, a year-on-year decrease of 14%.

GAC Aion's declining performance is related to the shrinkage of the online car-hailing market. According to media reports, GAC Aion is also committed to developing the C-end market to break through the bottleneck.

Li Auto ranked third in terms of sales in May, with 35,020 deliveries, up 24% year-on-year.

In the same month, Li Auto was also the car company with the largest number of deliveries in "Wei Xiaoli". This is related to the start of deliveries of the Ideal L6 in late April.

In 2024, Li Auto delivered a total of 141,207 vehicles, up 33% year-on-year.

It is worth noting that Li Auto's sales target for this year is 800,000 units, which is estimated to be far from the current delivery volume, and only about 18% has been completed. In 2023, Li Auto's deliveries will exceed 370,000 units to 376,030 units, and in 2024, it was intended to double the growth, but it may be difficult to complete it at present.

In fourth place in terms of sales volume was the "popular fried chicken" Celis, with 34,100 units delivered in May, a year-on-year growth rate of 299%.

In 2021, Cialis officially cooperated with Huawei, and was questioned for "selling its soul". However, with the growth of the sales of the Wenjie series of cars, Cialis has not only become famous in the industry and the market, but also has become the "darling" of capital, with the stock price from more than 20 yuan to more than 100. From January to May 2024, the cumulative delivery volume of Saili was 156,800 units, a year-on-year increase of 342.35%.

From the perspective of growth rate, Cialis is the fastest among the new energy vehicle companies that have announced their May report cards.

The fifth place in sales is Hongmeng Zhixing, with 30,578 units sold in May. However, in April this year, AITO Wenjie and Zhijie announced the delivery data for the first time as the "Hongmeng Zhixing" brand.

Among the new car-making forces, NIO also ran fast in May, delivering 20,544 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 234% and a record high. Of course, this is related to the poor performance of the same period last year, with a low base. From January to May this year, NIO's cumulative sales reached 66,217 units, a year-on-year increase of 51%.

Among the new car-making forces, ZEEKR Automobile, Leapmotor, Deep Blue Automobile and Xiaopeng Motors also performed well in May, with deliveries ranging from 14,000 to 19,000 units, with a year-on-year growth rate of 21%-115%.

Since May this year, the auto market has ushered in a recovery due to the favorable trade-in policy and the price reduction and promotion of merchants.

As mentioned earlier, GAC Aion, Li Auto and Hongmeng Zhixing all exceeded the 30,000 mark in May, and NIO and Zeekr set new monthly delivery records.

However, there are also car companies that have lagged behind in the case of a favorable market. For example, Nezha Automobile, although it held the 10,000 sales mark, delivered 10,113 units in May, a year-on-year decrease of 22%. A total of 43,564 units were delivered in 2024, down 13% year-on-year.

From 2020 to 2023, according to public data, Nezha Automobile has a cumulative loss of more than 18 billion yuan in 4 years. Whether it is sales or loss reduction, the pressure is not small.
