World Agrochemical Network Chinese Network Report: Recently, Indian agrochemical company Best Agrolife Ltd (BAL) announced that it will soon launch a new patented insecticide product Nemagen to deal with the growing problem of lepidopteran pests. The company has received a local manufacturing registration for Nemagen and plans to officially launch in July.
It is understood that in recent years, the host range of lepidopteran pests has been expanding, and at the same time, resistance to existing pesticides has developed. This results in a crop damage rate of up to 30-50%, resulting in huge economic losses for farmers. Faced with this challenge, the development of advanced pesticide solutions is particularly urgent.
Nemagen is a highly effective broad-spectrum insecticide that is unique in that it uses an innovative combination of active drug molecules, including chlorantraniliprole, fluorourea and emamectin benzoate, which is effective in controlling a wide range of pests, especially lepidopteran pests such as twig and fruit borers, as well as Coleoptera and Diptera pests.
Nemagen's versatility allows it to be used at all stages of crop growth, including vegetables, field crops, fruit crops and legumes. This feature is expected to meet the urgent needs of the agricultural market and provide farmers with more effective pest control options.
According to market analysis, the market size of this segment is around INR 63 billion (USD 753 million). BAL said it is confident of capturing a market share of INR 5 billion (USD 600 million) within the first two years of the product launch.
