Recently, Ye and Wu, citizens of Aoyang Town, found a baby fish on the road in the section of the Toad River near the county traffic police brigade, and then they used a scarf to wrap the baby fish and transfer it to a safe place and call the police in time.
After identification and measurement by relevant departments, it was determined that it was a wild giant salamander (commonly known as "baby fish"), which belonged to the national second-class key protected wild animals, with a body length of about 80 centimeters and a weight of 10.5 kilograms. The law enforcement officers of the county agricultural comprehensive law enforcement brigade, together with the police of the forest police brigade of the county public security bureau, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the baby fish, and found that the baby fish was healthy in appearance and had no obvious scars, and it was comprehensively judged to meet the release conditions. Subsequently, law enforcement officers and police officers transported the salamander to the safe waters of the Yangmei Prefecture Giant Salamander Nature Reserve in Shouning County for release to help the salamander return to nature. It is understood that this salamander is the largest salamander found in our county in the past ten years.
Wild giant salamanders have very high requirements for water quality in the water environment, and the appearance of the salamander in the river section of our county shows that the water quality of the river section in the urban area of our county is good, and at the same time reflects the growing awareness of citizens to protect wild animals. For a long time, the county agriculture and rural bureau attaches great importance to the publicity of wildlife protection, and has created a good social atmosphere for all citizens to protect wild animals through publicity activities such as "World Water Day", "China Water Week" and "Publicity Week for Going to the Countryside and Villages".
