Professor Qin Zhen, born in Shanghai in February 1931, graduated from Shanghai Nanyang Model High School in 1949, graduated from the Department of Medicine of the First Medical College of Shanghai Medical University in 1954, was promoted to associate professor in 1982, and was hired as a master's supervisor in the same year. He was promoted to professor in 1986, doctoral supervisor in 1990, special allowance from the State Council in 1992, and tenured professor in Huashan Hospital in 1996.

In 1955 and 1960, Professor Qin Zhen participated in the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Teacher Training Course for Higher Medical Colleges organized by the Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of the Ministry of Health and the National Advanced Training Course on Nervous System Electrophysiology held by the Shanghai Institute of Physiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the 80s, Professor Qin Zhen went to Chongqing Medical College, Hunan (Xiangya) Medical College and Neuroscience Society to hold clinical neurophysiology classes for the construction of the central and western regions. Professor Qin Zhen served as the deputy head of the National Cerebrovascular Disease Prevention and Treatment Research Leading Group of the Ministry of Health, and advocated the establishment of a national key laboratory of medical neurobiology and served as the deputy director. He has successively served as the deputy leader and director of the office of the Shanghai Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Prevention and Treatment Research Expert Group, the vice chairman of the Neurology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the executive director of the Chinese Neuroscience Society, the honorary member of the American Society for the Study of Neurology, and the deputy director of the Institute of Neurology of Shanghai Medical University. In addition, Professor Qin has served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Editor-in-Chief and Honorary Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Journal of Neurology, and a member of the 4th Editorial Board of the Chinese Journal of Neuropsychiatry. He is a member of the editorial board of many academic journals such as Chinese Journal of Physiological Sciences, Chinese Journal of Geriatric Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases, Foreign Medical Cerebrovascular Diseases and Stroke and Neurological Diseases.

Professor Qin Zhen has carried out extensive international academic exchanges. From 1987 to 1989, he lectured in Europe and participated in the European Conference on Neuropsychology in Bressanon, Italy, in 1989. In 1993, he participated in the 32nd International Congress of Physiological Sciences held in Glago, UK; In 1994, he attended the American Annual Meeting of Neuroscience and was invited to be an invited member of the New York Academy of Sciences. In 1994, he was included in the "International Distinguished Leaders Directory" (5th edition). Participated in the meetings of the International Liaison Committee on Stroke from 1996 to 2000; He was invited to participate in the 2000 International Stroke Summit, the 2005 International Stroke Summit Committee Meeting and the 2006 International Stroke Alliance Cooperation Meeting. In 2000, Professor Qin Zhen led the organization of the first Sino-American Neurology Conference jointly sponsored by the Chinese and American Neuroscience Societies. In 2004, Professor Qin was elected an Honorary Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and a member of the International Stroke Federation Collaborative Group.

Professor Qin Zhen has made great academic contributions and has edited clinical neurophysiology, neurology and psychiatry multiple-choice questions, and the second edition of Neurology. In 1992, he won the third prize of scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Health, and in 1995, he won the major scientific and technological achievement award for scientific and technological research.

From 1984 to 2000, Professor Qin Zhen trained 10 master's students, 14 doctoral students, and 1 postdoctoral fellow with his modest, kind, rigorous and down-to-earth academic style.
