Chang'e-6 brought back 1935.3 grams of lunar samples and handed them over to the Chinese Academy of Sciences

People's Liberation Army Daily, Beijing, June 28 (Yang Lu, reporter Wang Lingshuo) On June 28, the China National Space Administration held a handover ceremony for the lunar samples of the Chang'e-6 mission in Beijing. At the handover ceremony, relevant leaders of the China National Space Administration handed over the container containing the Chang'e-6 sample to the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

After measurement, the Chang'e-6 mission collected 1935.3 grams of lunar samples. After the samples are safely transported to the Lunar Sample Laboratory of the National Astronomical Observatories, the scientists of the ground application system will carry out the storage, preparation and processing of the lunar samples as planned, and start scientific research. This marks the official transition of the Chang'e-6 mission from the project implementation stage to a new stage of scientific research. The first lunar back sample is of unique scientific significance, which will further enhance mankind's understanding of the evolution of the moon and accelerate the pace of mankind's peaceful exploration and utilization of lunar resources, which is an important wealth for all mankind. The China National Space Administration will further carry forward the spirit of "chasing dreams, having the courage to explore, tackling tough problems together, and win-win cooperation", do a good job in the management of samples on the back of the moon, organize scientific research on lunar samples, and share China's scientific achievements in lunar exploration with the international community.

Previously, through the in-depth study of Chang'e-5 lunar samples, major scientific achievements have been made in many fields such as the formation and evolution of the moon, and more than 80 achievements have been published in important journals at home and abroad, such as the sixth new mineral "Chang'e" on the moon and the "youngest" basalt on the moon.
