On June 29, the Lanzhou-Zhangye high-speed railway Zhongchuan Airport to Wuwei East Section (hereinafter referred to as the Lanwu section of the Lanzhou-Zhangye high-speed railway) was officially put into operation, and Wuwei, Gansu Province has since been connected to the national high-speed rail network, which will further improve the rail transit network of the Hexi Corridor and is of great significance for helping the western development to form a new pattern.

Lanzhang high-speed railway from Lanzhou West Railway Station, through Lanzhou City, Wuwei City, Jinchang City, Zhangye City, Gansu Province, access to Zhangye West Station, the main line is about 498 kilometers long, the design speed of 250 kilometers per hour, the whole line is divided into three sections, of which Lanzhou West to Zhongchuan Airport section of the main line is 61 kilometers long, has been opened in September 2015; The feasibility study of the section from Wuwei East to Zhangye West has been approved, and the preliminary work is being carried out in an orderly manner, with a total length of about 244 kilometers on the main line; The opening is the section from Zhongchuan Airport to Wuwei East, with a total length of 193 kilometers.
The Lanwu section of the Lanzhang high-speed railway leads from Zhongchuan Airport Station in Lanzhou New District, passing through Yongdeng County, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, Tianzhu County, Gulang County, Wuwei City to Wuwei City, and connects to Wuwei East Station, with a total of 6 stations on the whole line, namely Zhongchuan Airport, Yongdeng North, Tianzhu West, Heisongyi, Gulang North, and Wuwei East Station, of which Zhongchuan Airport is an existing station, and the rest is a new station. Heisong Station is a railway technical operation station and does not handle passenger business.

The maximum speed of the Lanwu section of the Lanzhang high-speed railway is 250 kilometers per hour, and in the initial stage of operation, the railway department will arrange passenger trains to run according to the daily line and weekend line, and the maximum number of locomotive trains will be 20 per day. Among them, Wuwei East to Lanzhou West Railway Station can be reached in 1 hour and 56 minutes at the earliest, which is 58 minutes shorter than the current general-speed passenger train; Wuwei East to Zhongchuan Airport can be reached in 1 hour and 11 minutes at the earliest. In order to improve the quality of operation and meet the different travel needs of passengers, the railway department implements a flexible discount and differentiated market-oriented fare mechanism to provide passengers with more choices for travel, and the specific fare can be queried through the railway 12306.

After the completion of the Lanzhou-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway, it will become an important part of the fast passenger transport channel of the Hexi Corridor, and together with the Lanzhou-Xining to Zhangye West section of the Lanzhou-Xining high-speed railway, it will form a high-speed rail dual channel between Lanzhou and Zhangye.
