The course of the game

At 21 o'clock Beijing time, the competition officially kicked off, and after a round of warm-up circles, the car started! Verstappen held on to his pole position, Russell began to attack Norris, and Leclerc had a bit of a collision with Piastri that damaged his own front wing and had to return to the pits early to make a replacement. Hamilton also overtook Sainz to move to fourth.

With Sargent and Leclerc pitting, Zhou moved up to 18th. On lap three, Hamilton overtook team-mate Russell, but Russell immediately completed the comeback. Sainz then overtook Hamilton, who moved up to 13th as the rest of the drivers pitted, before he was knocked off the track after a collision with Alonso, who was then given a 10-second time penalty for the race.

Halfway through the race, Verstappen's lead was close to 10 seconds, and the title didn't look too much in doubt, with Zhou Guanyu back in 18th place. But then Norris started to chase hard, and Verstappen made a few mistakes when he pitted, and after coming out there was a small lock, Norris quickly closed the gap to within a second. On lap 55, Norris launched an attack and Verstappen was suspected of changing lines while defending.

A fierce battle ensued, with Russell lucky to be the frontrunner with Verstappen blowing out a tire, Norris' suspension being damaged and he facing a race investigation. Verstappen and Norris then both pitted for tyres, with Norris being penalized for five seconds and exiting the race, with a virtual safety car shown and Verstappen given a 10-second penalty.

In the end, Russell crossed the finish line first to win the race, Piastri was second, Sainz was third, Hamilton, Verstappen and Hulkenberg were second, and Zhou Guanyu was 17th.
