"With the change in climate, even in winter, the temperature is higher throughout the county, which makes loquat prone to early flowering. Early flowering will affect the next year's fruiting, and we need to remove the shoots in time after picking the fruit to prevent them from developing into early-flowering branches." Recently, agricultural technicians from Daguan County Agriculture and Rural Bureau went to Weijia Village, Geely Town to carry out loquat management and protection training to help the local loquat industry improve quality and efficiency.
At the training site, agricultural technicians patiently answered questions for growers, and taught everyone to recognize and prune early-flowering branches, dorsal branches, dorsal branches, overlapping branches, and external strong branches, so as to comprehensively improve the pruning and forking skills of loquat.
"When we pruned before, we always cut off the part that should be left and keep the branches that were growing well, which caused the loquat tree to grow taller and taller. Through this training, I learned a lot of scientific management techniques. "Growers have studied carefully and memorized carefully, and they have more confidence in developing the industry.
After the agricultural technicians explained and demonstrated, everyone rushed to prune. The technicians made on-site comments on the pruning situation, and pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of each pruning method. Then, the technicians taught the growers the technical points of fertilization and pest control.
It is understood that the loquat planting area of Weijia Village is 1,500 acres, mainly concentrated in the three areas of Haizi, Weijia and Zhongzui. In the process of loquat industry development, there are common problems such as few loquat fruits, small size, and poor quality. This time, the town and village levels actively invited agricultural technicians from the County Agriculture and Rural Bureau to carry out loquat management technology training in the field, which laid a solid foundation for improving the quality and efficiency of the loquat industry and helping farmers increase income.
