Pickering offers four of the most popular relay series, the 112, 113, 116 and 122 series, with a 50-100% increase in power ratings

Pickering, the leader in high-performance reed relays, has increased the power ratings of four of its most popular relay series, including the 112, 113 and 116 series, as well as the ultra-high-density 4mm2 122 series to ensure engineers have more options for building higher-specification switching systems without taking up valuable PCB space. As part of the company's commitment to continuous innovation and product improvement, the higher power rating adds to an already wide range of switching options. Pickering offers thousands of versions of relays with customizable parameter options to meet any application need, giving engineers more flexibility than ever before.

112 series

The 112 Series is a high-density single row (SIL) reed relay with a bottom size of only 0.15 inches (3.8 mm) × 0.4 inches (10 mm), taking up a very small PCB area. A new universal switch Type 1 option is now available, rated up to 20W at 1A switching current (1A carrying current). These relays achieve a very small footprint by mounting a reed switch diagonally inside the package. This series is suitable for systems with high-density boards, such as VME, VXI, Compact PCI, and PXI. The high-quality ruthenium-plated switch contacts also make them ideal for automatic test equipment.

113 series

The product range of the 113 SIL reed relay has also been updated to include a new universal switch type 1 option. The switch is rated up to 20W at 1A switching current or 1A carrying current (15W for the 3 V coil version). The relay is still in a high-density compact layout, with a bottom size of 0.15 inches (3.8 mm) × 0.5 inches (12.7 mm). The 113 Series also includes the smallest DPDT reed relay on the market, rated at 2W (Type 3 switch), and coaxial devices for signals up to 3GHz. In addition, the Type 1 switch option will offer a dual-pole DPST with a 5V coil that delivers up to 20W at 1A.

116 series

The 116 Series relays are designed for high-density applications such as ATE switch matrices or multiplexed switches, and Pickering now offers a new Type 1 universal switch option with power ratings up to 20W (15W for 3 volt and 5 volt coil versions) with a switching current of 1A and a carrying current of 1A. The footprint is optimized for 1 Type A (SPST) stack with a pitch of 0.15" (3.8mm) x 0.27" (6.9mm) and 2 stacks of Type A with a pitch of 0.15" (3.8 mm) x 0.40" (10mm). The 116 series will also be available with a dual-pole DPST with a 5V coil up to 1A, 15W, or a 12V coil with a switch up to 20W.

122 ultra-high density series

The 122 Series Reed Relays occupy only 4mm x 4mm PCB area and are now available with a new Type 1 universal switching option with power ratings up to 15W at 1A switching current or 1A carrying current. These relays are 12.5mm tall to facilitate the highest possible package density, and feature the highest quality instrument-grade reed switches and internal Mu-Metal magnetic shielding to minimize magnetic field interference when relays are tightly stacked.

"With the introduction of the new Type 1 Universal Switch option, the option to increase the power rating, the overall power is 50-100% higher than the previous Type 2 switch, customers now have even more options in our four most popular relay families," said Kevin Mallett, Technical Specialist at Pickering Electronics.

Pickering reed relays are known worldwide for their reliability thanks to their superior manufacturing and quality control processes. Pickering reed relays feature instrument-grade ruthenium-plated contacts as opposed to the rhodium-plated processes used in low-end reed relays, which result in less stable contact resistance. Instrument-grade ruthenium-plated contacts combined with Pickering's boneless coil construction maximize electromagnetic efficiency, allowing the use of less sensitive reeds to ensure switching under extreme operating conditions and extended life. The magnetic Mu-Metal shield eliminates deviations due to the interaction of magnetic fields when relays are tightly stacked.

Pickering also leads the competition by testing 100% of all operating parameters, including dynamic contact waveform analysis and detailed data analysis to ensure consistency. Unlike other manufacturers who only perform simple DC tests or batch tests, which can cause the device to not work properly, Pickering Electronics guarantees reliability during use. In addition, Pickering performs a 100% thermal cycling stress test on the manufacturing process, ranging from -20°C to +85°C and back to -20°C, which is repeated three times. Manufacturers who lack this rigorous testing often produce products that fail repeatedly in the application field.

关于Pickering Electronics

Founded more than 50 years ago, Pickering Electronics specializes in the design and manufacture of high-quality reed relays for instrumentation and test equipment. Today, Pickering's line of single in-line (SIL/SIP) products leads the relay industry, with devices that are only 25% the size of many competing products. These miniature SIL/SIP reed relays have been sold in large quantities to large ATE (Automatic Test Equipment) and semiconductor companies worldwide.

The Pickering Group is made up of three electronics manufacturers: Pickering Electronics, a reed relay company; Pickering Interfaces, a company that designs and manufactures modular signal switching and simulation products; Pickering Connect, the company that designs and manufactures cables and connectors.
