University of Technology Satellite: The stars are in orbit chasing the dream sky

author:Heilongjiang News Network

Walking into the industrial base of Harbin Institute of Technology Satellite Technology Co., Ltd., technicians are busy in an orderly manner for the upcoming satellites.

In May this year, at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, the Long March-6C carrier rocket carrying the "wide-format optical satellite" and the "high-resolution video satellite" successfully completed the launch mission, illuminating the sky. Behind the successful launch of the two satellites launched this time is Harbin Institute of Technology Satellite Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Gongda Satellite"), a leading domestic constellation and satellite design, mass AIT and in-orbit delivery service provider from Heilongjiang Province.

Founded in December 2020, the HIT Satellite was established as a platform for the transformation of HIT satellite technology and scientific and technological achievements, and is committed to providing solutions for the whole process of satellite development.

"With the academician team as the core, the company has built a high-tech R&D team and engineer team, with nearly 150 personnel, of which R&D technicians account for more than 70%." Wang Ran, assistant to the general manager of the University of Technology Satellite, said that since its establishment three years ago, the company has been approved as a national high-tech enterprise, a new R&D institution in Heilongjiang Province, a provincial enterprise technology center, a provincial engineering technology research center, and a provincial "specialized, special and new" small and medium-sized enterprise, and has continuously improved the core competitiveness of the industry through the construction of an innovation platform.

Every interrogation of space is the beginning of the next exploration. Since the successful launch of the first self-developed satellite "Micro Space" low-orbit satellite navigation augmentation system S4 test satellite in September 2022, the University of Technology Satellite has taken a solid step on the road of transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

In June 2023, the mainland's first flat-panel new system communication test satellite "Longjiang-3", which represents an important breakthrough in the field of satellite Internet-related technologies, was successfully launched.

On March 20, 2024, the Tiandu-2 lunar exploration satellite, developed by the University of Technology Satellite, was successfully launched, further promoting the development of low-cost deep space exploration technology based on micro-nano satellites.

The "Wide-Format Optical Satellite" and "High-resolution Video Satellite" are the second and third satellites successfully launched by the University of Technology this year. Behind every innovation and transcendence is the continuous inheritance and relay struggle of the satellite people of the University of Technology, who continue to inject new vitality into the development of the mainland's aerospace industry.

"At present, the University of Technology Satellite has undertaken the development and mass production of more than 100 commercial satellites, covering three major commercial satellite fields of communication, navigation and remote sensing, which can provide earth observation, resource survey, environmental monitoring, disaster early warning, navigation and positioning, satellite-to-ground communication and other services, bringing convenience to people's lives." Wang Ran introduced that in order to further enhance the scientific research and production capacity, the University of Technology Satellite has built a new satellite R&D test headquarters base project in Harbin New Area, further giving full play to the leading role of the "chain master" of the satellite industry, driving the coordinated development of upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain, and helping our province to accelerate the formation of new quality productivity of satellite manufacturing.

The rising "new star" has driven the coordinated development of a large number of related enterprises behind it. In March this year, at the conference to promote the high-quality construction of industrial projects in Harbin New Area, Shenzhen-Harbin Industrial Park was awarded the "China Star Valley", and is committed to building a highland for the agglomeration and development of high-end aerospace equipment, satellite manufacturing and electronic information technology application innovation industries. Relying on the full-process testing and testing capabilities in the aerospace field of the R&D test headquarters base built in the Shenzhen-Harbin Industrial Park, we will further give full play to the advantages of industrial agglomeration, drive the agglomeration effect of enterprises in the chain in the new area in physical space, and promote the new area to build a new highland for commercial aerospace strategic emerging industries with the source power of the coordinated development of the whole chain.

In recent years, the mainland's commercial aerospace industry has flourished, and an industrial system and market system have been initially formed, moving towards a new stage of application traction and market dominance. In 2024, "commercial aerospace" will be written into the government work report for the first time. Based on the strategic emerging industries of commercial aerospace, adhering to the value concept of "pursuing excellence and doing a good job in satellites", the University of Technology Satellite focuses on technological innovation, boosts the deep integration of the innovation chain and industrial chain, and injects new momentum into the development of new productivity in commercial aerospace.

Talking about the future, Wang Ran said that the University of Technology Satellite will unswervingly help China's footprint continue to expand in the interstellar, support the lofty goal of building a space power in an all-round way, and continue to move towards the farther and deeper of the sea of stars.
