The basic essentials of the movement:

1️⃣ Face the incoming ball, half-squat, feet shoulder-width apart, front foot slightly forward, back heel slightly raised, center of gravity forward, knee slightly flexed.

2️⃣ Place your arms naturally bent in front of your abdomen, your palms overlapped, your palms closed, your thumbs forward, your arms slightly turned outward, and your wrists pressed down.

3️⃣ When the ball comes, quickly move your arms under the ball, lean forward, and hit the ball with your chest, wrists, and elbows.

4️⃣ Maintain the natural feeding motion of your body and arms after hitting the ball, and adjust the landing point, speed and direction of the ball.

So, how do you practice this skill from scratch? Don't worry, I've got a full range of training codes for you:

Freehand training: Follow the coach's instructions, practice the freehand cushion action on the spot, and feel the essence of elbow, wrist press, hip lift, arm clamp and other movements. Remember to keep your center of gravity forward, push your hips up, and have the right hand shape and flexible footsteps.

Ball holding training: one person holds the ball at the front of the lower abdomen, the other person cushions the ball, gently hits the middle and back of the ball, and the ball holder then adjusts the ball height, and the two sides jointly comprehend the hitting skills.

Pad Throw: In teams of two, one person throws the ball, and one person places or moves the ball. The thrower keeps the landing point and height stable, and the cushioner responds with both hands on the chest, gradually increasing the difficulty.

Two people pad each other: the two sides are 3 meters apart, continue to cushion the ball at a fixed frequency and height, and increase the distance after proficiency to improve the cushioning efficiency.

Self-throwing and self-padding: Throw the ball to about 1 meter with one hand, and then cushion it with both hands in front of the chest. Pay attention to the elbow joints straight, raise the arms flat, and gradually increase the number of cushions to exercise ball control.

Self-cushioning against the wall: Keep a distance of 2-3 meters from the wall, and continue to cushion the ball to the fixed point of the wall to improve the stability and accuracy of the cushion.

Multi-directional movement self-cushion: hold a ball, move the cushion ball forward, backward, left and right, maintain a low center of gravity, control the landing point and height of the ball, move regularly, and improve the level of ball control.

Two people move the cushion: one person is stationary, one person moves the cushion ball in all directions, and after proficiency, the double moves the cushion ball to ensure that the arc and height of the ball meet the standard, and gradually widen the distance.

Triangle cushion ball: three people stand in a triangle position, continue to cushion the ball, can switch clockwise and counterclockwise, or four people can move the cushion ball in a triangle to enhance the difficulty of cushioning the ball and improve the ability to control the ball.

Receiving training: The two sides are 8 meters apart, one person serves, and the other person cushions the ball to the designated area while moving, starting with a light ball and a small arc, and gradually increasing the strength and arc.

️ Of course, it is inevitable that you will encounter some common mistakes during training, don't panic, I have prepared a "correction book" for you:

Bend your elbows, keep your arms together, and fly the ball upwards instead of forward: Strengthen freehand imitation training, and deepen your understanding of the force of arm lifting through the practice of sending the ball.

Slow speed, inaccurate ball, and deviant hitting point: Perform ball throwing exercises at different angles and distances to improve movement judgment and reaction speed.

Improper use of arms force, uncoordinated body, and low cushion ball: Through fixed ball practice, understand the hitting part, coordinate the force, and avoid cushioning the ball too low.

Psychological tension, physical stiffness, and excessive force: Perform cushion throwing exercises, keep your body and mind relaxed, strive to cushion softly and powerfully, and enhance your ability to control the ball.

Wrong cushion technique, slow movement, inaccurate alignment of the ball: Carry out self-throwing and self-cushioning training, hit a specific target, and move the cushion ball with both arms.

Stretch your arms too early and hit the ball weakly: The coach throws a light ball and asks students to try to hit the ball hard, increase the swing, and experience the feeling of hitting the ball hard.
