The ZF start-up offers an unusual solution for lovers of two-wheeled mobility. The company announced the launch of a detachable ZF Bicycle Ecosystem electric motor capable of turning a regular bike into an electric bike. The dimensions of such a system are only 12 x 9 cm, which is slightly larger than a soda can.
The 48-volt electric motor weighing 2.5 kg is powered by a battery with a capacity of 504 Wh or 756 Wh, depending on the configuration. At the heart of the system is the CentriX gearbox motor. The CentriX 90 version can be used to power mountain bikes, providing high power to overcome off-roading. The CentriX 75 is suitable for city driving on gravel and asphalt roads.
Both motors deliver 250 watts of power and 90 Nm of torque, and are equipped with an Eco System Core system mounted in the top tube of the bike. With its help, the driver can see information about the charge level and other indicators. For this, a 2.8-inch display attached to the steering wheel is used.
Bicycle drivers can install their smartphones on a special platform for charging gadgets. For the navigation and display of key functions, proprietary apps will come in handy.
The ZF Bicycle Ecosystem is already used in the electric mountain bike Tarok model, the sale of which will begin in 2025.
