The 2024 Asian Youth Badminton Championships has come to an end, and after winning the mixed team competition, the national team has once again become the number one winner of the event, winning all five championships in the individual competition, once again showing a strong overall reserve strength. After winning 5 gold medals again after 8 years, the national feather youth team ended the Asian Youth Championships journey with a record of 6 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronzes, in which Lin Xiangyi won the double championship.
Men's singles, Hu Zhe'an 2-1 Yin Haoxing
The 18-year-old national player Hu Zhean, the top seed and defending champion in Men's Singles, showed good form without losing a game before the final. In the final, Ho Zhe'an's opponent was South Korea's No. 15 seed Yoon Ho-sung, who was also strong, knocking out No. 5 seed Shettigar, No. 4 seed Wang Zijun and No. 2 seed Pacharakit, so the pressure on Ho Zhean against such an opponent can be imagined. In the first game, Hu Zhean lost a game 13-21, and after adapting to the rhythm of the opponent, Hu Zhean gradually took control of the game, 21-14, 21-14 Hu Zhean won two games in a row, won the championship and successfully defended the title.
Women's singles, Xu Wenjing 2-0 Yin Yiqing
Last year, Xu Wenjing stopped in the semifinals, and this year she made a comeback. As the game deepened, the No. 3 seed Xu Wenjing became more and more in form, and swept the No. 2 seed Zulaika in straight games in the semifinals, and the hand was very hot. Unseeded Yin Yiqing was a dark horse, knocking out fourth seed Mutiara and one of the favourites, Salenlac, with an aggregate score of 2-0 in the quarterfinals and semifinals. In the end, the 17-year-old Xu Wenjing was superior and defeated the 16-year-old Yin Yiqing in straight games 21-13, 21-15, and the national feather won the championship.
Men's Doubles, Hu Keyuan/Lin Xiangyi 2-0 Jiang Kaixing/Dai Weiqin
Fifth seeds Hu Ke Yuan/Lim Siang Yi are another recent discovery in the men's doubles of the national feather team, in fact, the two were not the biggest favourites before the tournament, with top seeds Kong Kai Heng/Tai Wei Qin (ranked 80th in the world) from Malaysia having the highest call for the title, as the Malaysian pair have already competed in multiple BWF tournaments, and have lost their first three meetings with Hu Keyuan/Lim Xiang Yi, and lost 0-2 (24-26, 23-25) in the most recent mixed team match. However, just a week later, Hu Keyuan/Lin Xiangyi got their revenge and left their opponents powerless, beating Jiang Kaixing/Dai Weiqin 21-13, 21-11 in just 33 minutes, and defeated their opponents to stand on the top podium for the first time while taking revenge.
Women's Doubles, Chen Fan Shuyan/Liu Jiayue 2-0 Kim Minji/Yeon Shuyan
Last year's Asian Youth Women's Doubles reached the semi-finals, but this year's No.5 seeds Chen Fan Shuyan/Liu Jiayue did not disappoint, narrowly beating seventh seeds and Malaysia's Wang Xinyu/Tan Wei Yan 2-1 in the semi-finals to face the eighth seeds, South Korea's Kim Min Ji/Yeon Shu Yeon. Although the Koreans also showed their ability to compete for the title by knocking out Japan's No.2 seeds Ririna Hiramoto/Tamaki Ayashi in three games in the semi-finals, Chen Fan Shuyan/Liu Jiayue were still beaten back to their original form, and after 48 minutes of fierce battle, Chen Fanshuyan/Liu Jiayue won the championship 21-11, 21-15.
Mixed Doubles, Lin Xiangyi/Liu Yuanyuan 2-0 Aurelius/Bernardin
Although the two mixed doubles pairs met in the semi-finals early, resulting in the mixed doubles not being able to continue last year's title, but sixth seeds Lin Xiangyi/Liu Yuanyuan still lived up to their expectations. In their first meeting with fifth seeds Aureliu/Bernardine of Indonesia, Lin Xiangyi/Liu Yuanyuan won the title 21-12, 21-13 with little challenge, in just 33 minutes.
