Brazil's rebar export market continues to show activity, attracting demand from South United States. According to the latest data, the reference price for export rebar by Brazil producers has reached $880 per tonne, up from $870 four weeks ago. CA-50 grade rebar is mainly sold to South United States countries, providing important support for local construction and infrastructure development.
In the past June, Brazil exported 18,000 tonnes of rebar, down from 53,400 tonnes in May, but remained stable. These exports were mainly shipped to ArcelorMittal and Gerdau at 13,400 tonnes and 4,600 tonnes respectively at prices of US$700/mt and US$620/mt respectively on FOB terms. In addition, imports from Turkey amounted to 1,500 tonnes at a price of $622 / tonne, also on FOB terms, with small imports coming from Germany and China.
In Brazil's domestic market, producers are offering medium to large quantities of rebar at 5,900 reais ($1,059) per tonne, up from 5,700 reais four weeks ago. Once manufactured, supplies in the southeast and south regions of the country are fully taxed, with the exception of IPI.
The Brazil Steel Association IABr expects imports of rebar to increase in the coming months as it is not subject to quotas and import taxes. In particular, due to the competitive freight rates from Turkey to the southern ports of Santa Catarina, such imports are also expected to grow.
Overall, the Brazil rebar market has shown a certain growth trend in terms of exports and imports, showing vitality and potential. In the future, with the changes in market demand and the adjustment of the international trade environment, the Brazil rebar industry will still face challenges and opportunities, and needs to respond flexibly to market changes, maintain competitiveness and seek sustainable development.
