A formation of Chinese ships participating in the joint exercise "Peace and Unity-2024" arrived in Tanzania
From late July to mid-August, the Chinese military will hold the "Peace and Unity-2024" joint exercise with the Tanzanian and Mozambican armies, and three Chinese Navy ships participating in the maritime direction exercise arrived in Tanzania on the morning of July 24 local time.
At about 10 o'clock in the morning local time, the Chinese warship formation consisting of the integrated landing ship Wuzhishan, the Qilianshan and the missile destroyer Hefei arrived in Tanzania, and a grand welcoming ceremony was held at the port of Dar es Salaam.
The joint exercise was conducted on the topic of "joint anti-terrorism military operations" and was carried out in different directions on land and at sea. In the maritime direction, the drill will focus on nine topics, including joint defense of ports, anti-terrorism tactics, raids and arrests, joint search and rescue, anti-terrorism and anti-piracy, and joint patrols at sea. During the joint exercise, the formation will also organize cultural exchanges, deck receptions, ship opening and other activities.

"Peace and Unity-2024" joint exercise in the maritime direction of 3 warships
In the "Peace and Unity-2024" joint exercise, the maritime side sent three warships of the Southern Theater Navy to the Chinese side to participate in the exercise. Let's take a closer look at these three warships.
The Navy's Wuzhishan ship, with the port number 987, is the No. 6 ship of the domestically produced Type 071 integrated landing ship, which was launched in January 2018 and officially joined the naval combat sequence in January 2019.
The Wuzhishan ship has a wide surface, large tonnage and strong endurance, and can carry various types of weapons and equipment such as air-cushion landing craft, amphibious armored vehicles, and carrier-based helicopters. It has successively completed the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Navy in the maritime parade and multinational naval activities, the Sino-Thai "Blue Assault-2019" naval joint training, and the "Mission to Tonga to Deliver Relief Materials".
The Qilianshan ship, which is of the same type as the Wuzhishan ship, with the port number 985, is the No. 8 ship of the domestically produced Type 071 integrated landing ship, which was launched in June 2019 and entered the list in January 2021. Since joining the list, it has successively carried out a number of major joint exercises and joint training tasks, such as the "Blue Sword-2023" China-Saudi Arabia joint exercise and the China-Cambodia "Golden Dragon-2024" joint exercise.
The Hefei ship, with the port number 174, is the No. 3 ship of the Type 052D ship of the main battle destroyer series of the People's Navy. It was launched in June 2013 and officially joined the combat sequence of the People's Navy in December 2015. The Type 052D destroyer is a third-generation destroyer independently designed and built by the mainland, and with its outstanding performance, it has become the destroyer model with the largest number of equipment in the People's Navy so far, and has strong anti-air defense, sea attack, submarine warfare and formation command capabilities, and is the backbone of the surface ship force of the People's Navy in the new era. Since its entry into the ranks, the Hefei has participated in many major tasks such as joint training in the open sea, aircraft carrier formation training, and combat readiness cruise, and has successfully completed joint exercises and training tasks such as the "Maritime Joint-2017" Sino-Russian joint exercise.
